Apparently Sam didn’t think we were busy enough. A few of her OG ARC readers decided they wanted friendship bracelets. Sam, naturally, thought this was a great idea. She also has Book Two to edit, so the bracelet-making responsibilities have somehow been delegated to us. Everything else going into the This Won’t End Well PR boxes can be found somewhere in the story. The friendship bracelets are the exception. Those are entirely the OGs’ fault. We’re an independent publisher. Apparently this is publishing. PR box prep is officially underway. by @hollowbonepress

Boney’s back with another Hollow Bone Society announcement. This week, we’ll be contacting selected members to offer them a This Won’t End Well PR box for Sam Bennett’s debut. Those selected will also receive first access to the digital ARC before the wider ARC release. If you’re a member, keep an eye on your Instagram DMs and email inbox. The boxes will come later. For now, Boney’s just finding out where they’re going. by @hollowbonepress

A little housekeeping from The Hollow Bone Society. We’ve moved to a new system so application and membership notifications can now be sent automatically. If you’re waiting to hear from us, please check your spam or junk folder. This is especially important if you applied before the system change. And if your application has already been accepted, remember to complete your confirmation form to finalise your membership. We still have a few accepted places sitting in limbo. Apparently email providers don’t automatically trust correspondence from a skeletal magpie. by @hollowbonepress

A lot of you have said you love the Hollow Bone Press branding, so I thought I’d tell you the story behind it. The name actually came first. When I was trying to name the press, I made a list of things that meant something to me. Birds were one of them. Somewhere down that rabbit hole, I learnt that bird bones are hollow. It’s one of the adaptations that makes flight possible. For some reason, that fact stuck with me, and Hollow Bone Press was born. Once the name existed, the logo and the brand came together surprisingly quickly. For most Australians, magpies are just part of life. You grow up hearing them. You’ve probably been swooped by one. They can be beautiful, terrifying, or both, depending on the time of year. The logo itself is a hand-sketched drawing of a real magpie skeleton by my incredibly talented niece. (No birds were harmed in the making of the logo.) Then someone on Threads asked, “Does the cute little boney bird have a name?” I replied that Boney sounded like a pretty good name. So now he’s called Boney. He’s the unofficial mascot of Hollow Bone Press, and I suspect our romance readers are going to make sure he stays that way. 😂😅 by @hollowbonepress

A little Hollow Bone Society update… The first three batches of acceptance emails have gone out. If you applied, check your inbox (and your spam folder). If you’ve been accepted, don’t forget to confirm your place so we know you’d still like to join. We’ve also had to waitlist more applications than we expected. Not because they weren’t strong, but because we’re still a small publisher and our upcoming catalogue isn’t the right fit for every reader. We’d rather invite you to a book you’ll genuinely love than one you’d feel obliged to finish. One thing we weren’t expecting? Just how many of you love thrillers, crime and fantasy. Unpublished authors, consider that your hint. 👀 If contemporary romance, literary fiction or romantic tragedy is more your thing, we’re still looking for readers. Thank you to everyone who’s applied so far. It’s been incredible seeing The Hollow Bone Society begin to take shape. xo Mona & Olivia by @hollowbonepress
