EXCITING NEWS OUT OF CAMP SOULJUNK. I am bringing on Holly Rogers ( @hollyh00ps ) to the team. She will be helping with details, media, bookings, and other work for this project moving forward. This is a partnership built on navigating the dance music scene and bass music community together to figure out how we can best support eachother in our goals as a rising national artist and manager. the job i left in july & was at for a year had a huge impact on my mental and physical health. i woke up crazy early, worked alone and was too tired to do anything else in the day once i was off work. i lived alone which made it easier to isolate. when i tried being social on my days off, i got more sleep deprived which made my mood worse. i would try to still do stuff on the one weekend day i had to work just to balance a social life, and i noticed i was not myself when i went out. i got burnt out in the industry and community i love which made my depression worse. i took this job bc i got burnt out working in the service industry and wanted to do something solo. while that made me happy, it was very short term. i realized the grass was not greener on the other side. i realized isolating myself was actually worse than dealing with unreliable coworkers or bad tippers. i missed human connection, i missed leading a team, i missed getting appreciated for my hard work. hospitality has always been my strong suit and i’m happy to be back in that line of work again. sometimes it takes removing yourself from a situation temporarily to appreciate what you already had. i’m slowly coming back and feeling more like myself. human connection is so important to your mental health. suffering alone doesn’t solve anything, it just stands in the way of your potential. by @hollyh00ps

2 1/2 years alcohol free 🎉 i’ve shared my story before but i will again: i worked in a restaurant that allowed guests to buy a round for the bar, which would happen often. it turned into me having a drink at the end of my shift every night, sometimes two, sometimes three. this turned into me only drinking at work, at the end of my shift, not pacing myself, and rushing home before the alcohol hit. some days it kicked in sooner and i was not in the best shape driving home. one day, i woke up and decided i didn’t want to do this anymore. i never drank on my days off and i was starting to form bad habits drinking. i’ve seen alcohol ruin a lot of lives close to me and i didn’t want to fall victim to that. march 20th 2024 was the first day of one of the best decisions i ever made. it taught me discipline, it gave me strength. i’ve endured several hardships since then and not taking it out on a bottle was liberating. it helped me cope better with my problems and that alcohol only masks your problems short term. i am still working on my overall sobriety, but i am so proud of sticking with this as long as i have. working in the service industry isn’t easy a lot of days since i am surrounded by it, as well as the music industry, but it’s opened a lot of opportunities for me and i am forever grateful. if you ever want to start this journey and don’t know where to start, i am an open book and am willing to listen and guide you through it. you can work around alcohol being alcohol free. you can go to raves/shows/festivals without consuming. it is possible 😌 thanks for reading 🤍 -holly by @hollyh00ps
