Our Hillside Residence has been named a Silver Award winner at the 2026 Iconic Awards in the Modern On the Boards category for homes over 8,500 SF.

Set into its hillside site, this residence was designed to work with the terrain, so the architecture and the landscape feel like one on the same. The scale of the home allowed for generous spaces and sweeping views, with every detail shaped around how the site rises and falls.

Before a home takes shape, the standard is already being set.

Concrete day is where planning, precision, and teamwork come together. From the excavated footings to the reinforced walls and braced formwork, this stage lays the groundwork for everything that follows.

At Cruz Development, we crush the details from the ground up. The care behind a finished home starts long before the finishes arrive—with thoughtful preparation, coordination in the field, and crews who take pride in their work.

This aerial view captures a milestone worth appreciating: plans becoming structure, one pour at a time. A huge thank-you to the team putting in the work to bring this project to life.

Planning a custom home? We’d love to hear your vision. Send us a message to connect with Cruz Development—and follow along as this build takes shape.

Shadow Monk was designed to settle naturally into the Paradise Valley terrain, with low-slung forms, blasted block, expansive glass, and carefully framed views toward Camelback Mountain and the Praying Monk.

Built around indoor-outdoor living, every element—from the water features to the fire features and gathering spaces—was intentional to make the most of its desert setting.

Twilight at Borrowed Sky.

Viewed from below, the home glows softly as it emerges from the mountain. Cast concrete walls extend from the landscape, anchoring a delicate glass enclosure beneath a floating Douglas fir ceiling. Within, openings carved into the roof frame the sky and draw the landscape inward, bringing architecture, light, and nature into one continuous experience.

Underground plumbing is underway as well as our pouring of the board form walls! Just wait to see as we pull the forms from the board form and watch how incredible the vertical board formed concrete looks. We sand blasted the wood facing the concrete to give it a textured grain finish…ohhh just wait 😎🔥 this reveal is going to be incredible
