Holtwhites Bakery started life as a potentially crazy idea we had on holiday in Cornwall 15 years ago. Family has been at the heart of our business at every step, so we are honoured to have been named "Best Family Run Business" in this year's Enfield Business Awards 🎉 Thank you to: our parents, brothers & sisters, uncles, aunts & cousins (and in-laws!); to our boys Charlie and Louis who can't remember *not* being bakers' sons; and to everyone who has become part of the extended Holtwhites Family over the years, including our brilliant team and many, many wonderful customers. It's so easy & relatively cheap to add a loaf of mass-produced bread to your supermarket shop, so why is it worth a visit to Holtwhites (or your local artisan bakery) to buy Real Bread?

Here’s 5 reasons:

1️⃣ No artificial preservatives, processing aids or hydrogenated fats. We make all our bread from scratch using the best quality locally-milled flour. When a recipe calls for additions we use butter, free-range eggs, extra virgin olive oil, honey, seeds, nuts and dried fruits. We do not add sugar to our loaves and artificial additives & preservatives have no place in our kitchens!

When we opened our bakery & deli in Palmers Green five (!) years ago, we soon realised that our customers wanted somewhere to not only buy their daily loaf/pastry/coffee but also a place to sit and savour it. Over the years, the number of seats in our shop, on our pavement and in our courtyard garden has increased, much food & drink has been enjoyed and many friendships have been made. Our menu has also grown!

We're proud to say that we are also a café, and we have finally got around to printing a Food & Drink Menu 💙

We've put all your choices in one place:
Breakfast Buns, Sourdough Toasties, Salads, Soups, Hot Drinks and Seasonal Hot Drinks.

You will still be able to browse our counters and choose from our selection of freshly made sandwiches, cakes, pastries and more.

✨ It's way too early to say the C word, so let's just say that Xxxx pudding production is well underway in our Pastry kitchen 😉

We take fresh apple & grated carrot, Holtwhites breadcrumbs, loads of dried fruit (yum!) and ground almonds and soak the whole lot in stout & rum, before carefully packing into Mason Cash ceramic bowls and steaming each pudding for several hours. Starting this process in the late summer gives our puds lots time to mature for the best flavour, texture and all round deliciousness.

If you look carefully around our shop, you might spot some puds stashed away (we need more storage space!). They aren't quite ready to sell yet, so watch this space if you want to be the first to know! You can also subscribe to our emails via the link in bio 👆
