If you haven’t been to @blackrabbitrose on a Wednesday night yet— pull the fuck upppp.

From 10:30 to 12:30 myself and some of my closest and most talented friends are on an intimate stage in the heart of Hollywood, singing songs of ours, others, and making up new songs right in front of you. It’s the only place you’ll get to hear the unreleased music from my upcoming album “Gospel Music for Habitual Sinners.”

Some of its acoustic (like “Freedom” above) and some of it is a stage filled with the kings and queens that helped me make the music you’ll hear ( @mrdeniro @keymastermusic @_dannydrums_ @itsalisonogden #russellali , etc) …

Who knows how much longer they’ll let me get turnt af on their stage before they come to their senses— so lmk before Wednesday if you wanna join and I’ll reserve you some seats.

Seating at 10, show at 10:30. It does fill up. After that it’s standing room or until capacity.

Last night was the beginning of my Wednesday night residency at @blackrabbitrose —

For an hour and a half I performed unreleased material from my upcoming album to an intimate crowd while bleeding my heart onto a stage after 16 years not being allowed to legally release music.

Special thanks to @itsalisonogden and @jamaicanjrm for joining me on stage and blessing the crowd with their magic.

Join me next Wednesday as I bring my full band in to fuck shit up with more friends, family, and surprise guests.

I just released my first official single from my upcoming album “Gospel Music for Habitual Sinners”— and this is the video that started the whole project, as well as the first time I’d ever performed the song.

I’d been unable to release music for over 15 years (politics, stuck in record deals, shelved album, etc) and after feeling like the love of music had been drained from me in every way, I found myself finally free to do what I love. No longer did I seek anything from music, nor was it an ambition, or a dream. It had simply become a language— one that I needed to communicate, to express.

@mrdeniro and I started on a journey of creating in a way neither of us ever had after being turned off completely of the industry and its blueprint for success. We decided to create music purely for the magic in the moment of creation, for ourselves, without any requirements or expectations or rules to follow, other than the necessity that it filled our souls in the moments of creation. After a journey that ended up being an adventure and an intense retreat of discovering our own personal freedom within the mirage…we started to watch as all the things we used to chase began chasing us. And here we are now, on the verge of an independent release, with no desires other than to follow the flow that has lead us to this body of art that that desires of itself to be shared.

I feel personally that I was hardly involved, as it seems the only thing that I’ve actually gotten good at is not the singing, the writing, or the expression — but a keen ability to get out of my own way and let life move through me as it wants to. A walkie-talkie for the universe, communicating its message and finally feeling no longer a victim that life happens to, but a vessel that life happens t h r o u g h.

One year ago at this time I experienced the absolute most magical and mystical moment of my life. My dear friend was shattered by a heartbreak that led him to his breaking point— and he came to see us believing it was the last time he would, and he expressed that our music was the only thing that made him feel alive and inspired…

In that moment, Russel and I decided we would offer ourselves up with the intention of sharing the pain, and we asked life to use us as vessels to let the pain go through music. Russell sat at the piano and surrendered to whatever wanted to come out, and within a couple minutes I felt words and melody erupt through my body that did not belong to me in any way, but used my mouth and voice to spit out its story and its words. I’ve cultivated what I know is a rather rare ability to get out of my own way while allowing the energy to create the music on its own— but this was the first time that I felt fully uninvolved while someone or something else seemed to be using me to express or release something that was not my own…

We were both in tears with no idea what was coming out of us, no plan or blueprint for what even needed to be said or why. The moment literally changed and affected everyone present that night, although from the outside it was simply a 3 minute emotional freestyle that none of us would ever hear again because we couldn’t find the videos or recordings. A year later, yesterday, i somehow accidentally opened a video that happened to be the song that came out of us which none of us had heard or seen since…

As simple or insignificant as it may be to some of you— I was lit on fire it felt like, reliving and watching myself experience what was by far the most intensely invigorating few minutes of power and freedom that changed the way I do everything from that point on. This is the video clip that I found…and fuck it, if nothing else, maybe it will help someone somewhere soften and lighten around something that only feels hard and heavy as of now— and that’s the fuckin best I could ask for from anything. Fuckin love y’all. Here’s some updates on all things Holy Wild:

Album’s definitely coming asap (it’s called “Gospel Music for Habitual Sinners”). The album release is scheduled for the 29th— and I have plans to stick to that, though everything has been delayed due to my car accident last month (see following update).

So, yeah, I was in a car accident last month that left me whip totaled and me body on an edge. Air bags didn’t go off and although I walked away, the wreck triggered a nervous system disorder that’s left me on my back for the past 7 weeks. It’s called dysautonomia with POTS syndrome. Basically— my body can’t get out of fight or flight mode, and although I’m good when I’m laying down— as soon as I stand up my blood pressure drops dangerously and my heartbeat increases by about 50bpm. I can walk for about 30 seconds before I’m about to collapse, and my body thinks it’s ran a full marathon. BUT, life’s the fuckin best and always gives me exactly what I need, which leads to my next update…

After 6 weeks in bed I made a gofundme, as I’d spent hours everyday researching treatment protocols, talking to people around the world with chronic nervous system disorders, and figuring out how I’m going to get back on my feet (many people with POTS end up bed or wheelchair bound for years, and there’s no known cure— though management and remission is possible). I’m happy and humbled as fuck to say that after a week I’m 90% funded and have already started one of the treatment programs, thanks to y’all! Fortunately, my background with breathwork and meditation has apparently given me quite the headstart in recovery— and I’m hoping to see great improvements with this neural rewiring and biofeedback treatment I’m currently undergoing.

As I said before— even if I’m in a fuckin chair, the show will go on on the 29th (details to come). If you’re interested in donating or sharing to help with the rest of my treatment, the links in my bio. And either way, can’t thank y’all enough for all the love you’ve already shown….
