POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We haven't left the UK since 2020. We haven't left Scotland since 2021. But the funny thing is; as soon as I spoke to my kids about going on holiday, they started telling me what they remember about the holidays they'd been on in the past; toys they'd bought, planes they'd been on, animals they'd seen. Instead of trying to give them a small village life on a Scottish island, I'm turning our narrative around and making sure they have the biggest life possible.

As someone who never went on holiday as a child (I'm not talking abroad, I mean not even a night in a hotel ANYWHERE), I have zero memories of spending time together as a family. I didn't get the chance to see other places, experience new foods, hear music from other cultures, or see the sun go down in a different landscape.

And if I want my kids to experience these things then I need to be the one to show them, I need to get out of my comfort zone and learn how to navigate these things, to give them a life I never had but always wanted.

Here goes ✈️

Peter Bunny doesn't get many pictures taken of him, but he's living his best life here in our living room. Always looking for a treat when the dogs get theirs, and will gladly rid the kids of any fruit or veg they don't want to eat!

I spend a lot of time in the woods thinking about things. Thinking about life. All the lives I've lived. Over 15 houses in over 15 years. The things I've done (and not done). The money I've spent. The value of time. I've come to the conclusion that the second half of my life will look different. I'm prioritising experiences over things. It's taken me almost 40 years to figure out a lot of things, and I might not even have another 40 years left. But looking back at the lack of memories I have of my life, I've realised I want to give my kids some things to remember. Not just "remember when we lived for four long years stuck on a wet and windy Scottish island?" Lists have been written, passports applied for, tickets purchased. The second half of my life is starting and I'm excited for it.

My boy had a brilliant time away for a few days; his first football match (Partick Thistle vs Arbroath), complete with lots of vehicles and junk food. Unfortunately he's now throwing up but back home and back to proper food and his own bed and he will be fine 🤞🏼

Thank you so much @suttons.co.uk for our new veg bed; complete with compost and fertilizer. It has a home in a previously unloved spot in the garden and we can't wait for the onions, shallots and garlic to grow 🧅🧄

Just the girls (and Ghillie) whilst my boy is away for the weekend having his own adventures 🍂 For those of you who asked; Ghillie has had two post op appointments now and is allowed out without his bodysuit on but has to stay on the lead for now (which isn't that bad for him as his recall isn't the best, we are just avoiding the places that I do let him loose so he's not disappointed!) Hopefully his fur will grow back in time for the winter weather 🐻‍❄️
