Today marks 10 years since the opening of Hooked on Henry Street. With everything happening around me, I almost let this milestone slip by unnoticed, but it feels important to pause and reflect.

When my dad first asked me what we should do with the space, we tossed around a few ideas. Eventually, the concept of a small restaurant took shape, though I never imagined I’d still be here a decade later. My plan was to help get it up and running and then move on to the next chapter in my life. But the universe, and my dad, had other plans.

I can’t begin to express how grateful I am that Hooked became the anchor that has kept me close to my dad these past ten years. It’s been a decade of developments, incredible highs and some crushing lows—openings and closures, fights and celebrations. There were moments that felt impossible, but my dad always faced them head-on, never seeing an obstacle we couldn’t overcome. And, as always, he was right.

Hooked on Henry Street has shaped me in ways I never anticipated. It’s been the making of me, and at times, the breaking of me. But through it all, I feel so deeply honored to have been part of this journey with my dad. His vision, his persistence, and his unshakeable belief in what we’ve built together leave me in awe every day.

This isn’t just a restaurant. It’s a testament to his dedication, and I am so humbled to be by his side as we continue to bring his vision to life by @hookedgalway

💫 As we draw to a close, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to our incredible staff, loyal customers, neighbours & friends for their kindness and support the past six months. This year brought challenges I could never have anticipated—relentless and exhausting in every sense.
As we look ahead to 2025, I want to remind everyone how much the hospitality industry needs your continued support. It’s a labour of love for those who work in it and for those who enjoy what we bring to the table. But we need the backing of our communities and policies to thrive. From the struggles in the fishing industry to the relentless rise in costs, the pressure we face are real and constant.
My dad believed in working hard to provide his customers with what they needed, always with fairness and integrity. That principle was the foundation of our restaurant.
He approached every challenge with strength and humility, always eager to learn grow and embrace lifes lessons with an open heart. I am committed to continue his legacy. To keep our sails set high and meet whatever challenges lie ahead with the same fearless determination he showed us. Always improving, always growing and always remembering the humbling beauty of our journey.
In his passing there has been a profound beauty being here in our home on Henry Street. I've had the honour of hearing how deeply loved he was by so many of you, how warmly he was recieved and how each encounter with him left a special place in your hearts. That above all was his true legacy.

Thank you for keeping his spirit alive and reminding me of just how fortunate I was to call him my father. I know if love alone could have saved him, he would have lived forever. Wishing you all a peaceful New Year with all those you hold dear.

Some days pass without much to report, while other days turn up and remind you that nothing prepares you for the shit coming your way.
Yesterday was one of those days. After a flat out summer I mentioned to a friend I was finding it difficult to adjust to a slightly calmer pace.
The universe clearly heard me and said " you look like you have everything under control. Here's a fucking water feature you never ordered"
Id happily have skipped this particular lesson!
Ill always throw a little tantrum and I might not know how to sort it. But I have had enough shit thrown my way to know ill handle it.
There's always a lesson, but next time ill keep my mouth shut and just enjoy the down time.

meet the team!
the newest addition to the team is proud arsenal fan Calum. he enjoys long walks towards the bar counter, a creamy pint of guinness & he’s already got all the regulars wrapped around his little finger. his favourite dish is our crispy fish bites with korean sauce although that might be beat by chef @zukus_101 special today; crispy polenta coated lemon sole with roast potatoes, carrot puree & pickled cabbage.
we’re delighted to have him join our team, pop in and say hello 👋🏽

This weekend we say “see you soon” to Elizabeth, who is leaving us for a while to undergo surgery.

Elizabeth arrived at Hooked as a commis chef and leaves as the undisputed Queen of the Pass. 👑

She is our resident wild card—fiery but soft, kind, cheeky and just a little bit flirty. She has spent most of her days surrounded by men in the kitchen, but she has never had any trouble holding her own, speaking her mind or keeping them all firmly in their place.

She may never arrive on time, but she always shows up—and she has shown up for us even through some of the toughest circumstances.

What I love most about Elizabeth is that she is always completely herself. What you see is what you get… apart from the hair, because that could be entirely different by next week.

I will really miss her presence, her honesty, her humour and the energy she brings to Hooked. We’re all wishing her the very best with her surgery and recovery—and we’ll be keeping her crown safe until she is ready to return. ❤️ by @hookedgalway

To help reduce no shows and last minute cancellations, we've updated our booking policy.
All reservations require valid credit card details to secure your table.
💳 DONT WORRY- your card will not be charged when you book. It will only be used in line with our cancellation policy for late cancellations and no shows.
This small changes helps us make sure every table is available for our customers that want to dine at hooked, especially during our busiest time.
