Last week, between my grandmother's firewood and the mushrooms on the mountain, my father and I walked and talked for hours.
I grew up soft in a place that asks boys to be hard. You knew that place from the inside, papà. You could have passed it on to me, the way it was passed on to you. You chose not to.
Everything I am today started with that choice.

Teju never taught from a pedestal.

She let me fail in a pose without rushing to fix it.
She let the struggle finish itself before she stepped in.
She taught from her own limitations, not from authority. Beginner's mind, every class.

When she does adjust you, it's precise, not automatic. That's what attention and care actually looks like.
Not performance. Just presence, without the hierarchy.

I would never have accepted my asana practice as valuable without her guidance.

This is four years of that.

Have you ever looked in the mirror and felt consumed by what you saw staring back?
I did. For years.
Body dysmorphia doesn't announce itself. It just quietly makes you the enemy of your own skin.
I didn't fix myself. I stopped running from what I saw. That's it. That's the work.
Now I can say it plainly: I love this body.
Not despite the work. Because of it.
If you're in it right now, I'm not here to tell you it's easy. I'm here to tell you it's possible.
