Meet Dr. Kimberly Jackson Bekemeier, DO 👋
The doctor for peri/menopausal women tired of hearing “your labs are normal.”

✨ 20 years as a practicing physician
🩺 Board-certified in Osteopathic Family Medicine
🎓 UCLA residency-trained
📘 Harvard-trained in Women’s Health & Menopause
🦋 Menopause Society Certified Practitioner
🎤 TEDx speaker on Mindset in Healthcare
🌻 Certified health coach & founder of Coaching Chronic Disease

💙 I also live with Type 1 diabetes, so I know what it’s like to be on the other side of the exam table, managing a condition for the long haul. Multiple appointments, multiple specialists and feeling like labs don’t tell the whole story

💛 Outside the office: mom of two, lover of the outdoors, and an active part of this community I get to serve.

🌊 I started Hormone Harmony OC because women in Orange County deserve concierge care where you’re never rushed, and a doctor who has time to actually listen. Health coaching on nutrition, sleep, movement, and lifestyle is built into every membership, not an add-on. Whether you’re navigating perimenopause, menopause, or just want to feel like yourself again, I’m here for you.

🌼 Members also get Live in Harmony, our wellness community with events right here in my Huntington Beach office.

🌿 Officially an MSCP — Menopause Society Certified Practitioner!

I’m thrilled to share that I’ve earned my Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP) credential — the gold-standard certification in menopause care, awarded by The Menopause Society.

This has been a long time coming. My training in women’s health and menopause with Harvard has been the foundation of my practice at Hormone Harmony OC. I sat for the MSCP exam back on June 1st — between the exam window and score processing, it takes time for results to come back, so I’m just now able to share the news!

I’m proud to now carry both credentials: Diplomate, American Board of Family Medicine, and Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP) — bringing an added layer of specialized, evidence-based expertise to the perimenopause and menopause care I provide.

If you’re navigating this season of life and want a provider who has dedicated real depth of training to it, I’d love to help. by @hormoneharmonyoc

POV: you came for the event topic and realized this is a whole different kind of doctor’s office. ✨

Tea and water waiting for you. A cozy seat. An education corner with local partners who can help you reach your goals. Even the restroom feels like a welcome, and if you’re here for a Pap, you’ll change into a plush robe, not a paper gown.

But don’t let the vibes fool you. This is still a medical clinic, and it could be your primary care office.

There are a lot of primary care doctors. Here’s what makes this one different.

I’m a DO. Only about 1 in 5 primary care doctors is. From my first day of medical school, I was trained to look at the whole body and the whole person, not one symptom at a time.

I’m a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner, and I’m comfortable ordering the labs and writing the prescriptions. Hormones are part of your care here, not a carve-out.

I also open my clinic doors to midlife women, members or not, for events, education, and real connection. Women by women, in a space made for us. 💛

Pap smears. Sick visits. Blood pressure. Chronic conditions. Prevention. Family history. Perimenopause and menopause. All of it, under one roof, from one doctor who sees the complete picture.

Modern Woman. Modern Healthcare.

Menopause just made history in Congress.

On September 16, the Senate Special Committee on Aging held the first congressional hearing ever devoted to menopause. Days later, more than 125 advocates from 29 states went to Capitol Hill to talk with lawmakers about research, provider education, access to care and workplace support.

If you’ve ever felt dismissed, this hearing helps explain why. Most physicians were never trained in menopause care. It was never in your head.

I’m a member of ForeverBetty, a menopause provider community that helped sponsor the first Perimenopause & Menopause Capitol Hill Day. Being part of it keeps me up to date on the lobbying, the research and the bills moving through Congress. Advocating for women is a big part of why Hormone Harmony OC exists. Whenever I have the chance to use my voice as a physician, whether it’s in the exam room or at the Capitol, I want to show up. Policy takes time, and you deserve good care now. If you’re in perimenopause or menopause and ready to be heard, book a Focused Hormone Consult at the link in my bio.

Save this post, and send it to a friend who needs to hear it.

Nourished. Not boring. 💛 Eating for perimenopause doesn’t mean giving up pizza night or skipping dessert. It means giving your body more of what it needs right now, while still enjoying your life.

During perimenopause, shifting estrogen changes how your body handles blood sugar, muscle, bone, and sleep. A few things that go a long way:

🥚 Protein at every meal to protect muscle and keep cravings steady
🥬 Fiber and lots of color for your gut, cholesterol, and estrogen balance
🐟 Omega-3s from salmon, tuna, and walnuts for your heart, brain, and mood
🦴 Calcium and vitamin D for strong bones
🍷 Alcohol mindfully, since it can make hot flashes and sleep worse for many women

My favorite trick? Sunday prep. A batch of egg bites and a pan of veggies make the busy weekdays so much easier.

No perfection required. Just more nourishment, more often.

If you’re doing all the “right” things and still don’t feel like yourself, food may only be part of the picture. That’s where I come in.

Curiosity is protective, not optional — especially through midlife transitions.
Purposeful work and lifelong learning keep the mind genuinely engaged, and that engagement matters for long-term brain health, not just day-to-day fulfillment.

Your phone was listening, and honestly? So am I. 👂🏼

“I want to feel like myself again” is one of the most common things I hear from women in midlife. It usually comes with “I’ve been told my labs are normal” or “I thought this was just getting older.”

It’s not just you, and you don’t have to settle for that answer

I’m a board-certified family physician and a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner. At Hormone Harmony OC I look at the whole picture: your hormones, sleep, mood, metabolism, labs, and the life you’re actually living. You get real time with me and direct access, because concierge care should feel like having a doctor who knows you.

If this landed on your feed today, take it as your sign. 💛

October is Menopause Awareness Month, so let’s talk about something I hear constantly: “My doctor said it’s just stress.”

Stress is real, and it lives in the body. Short bursts of adrenaline bring a racing heart, irritability and sweating. Months of high cortisol show up as poor sleep, foggy memory and weight that settles around the middle.

Here’s the catch. Perimenopause causes many of those same symptoms. Night sweats, palpitations, anxiety and broken sleep can come from either one, or both at once, and each makes the other worse.

That’s why the answer is rarely one thing. It’s sleep, movement, nervous system support, community, and a real medical evaluation. For many women, treating hot flashes and sleep is what finally lets everything else work.

You deserve a doctor who listens to the whole story. Book a hormone consult at hormoneharmonyoc.com.

What if tamoxifen and aromatase inhibitors weren’t the only options?

For women with hormone receptor-positive breast cancer, hormone-blocking therapy can be lifesaving. It can also be really hard to live with, from joint pain and sleep problems to sexual health and bone changes. Side effects are one of the biggest reasons women stop treatment early.

That’s why I’m watching SERDs closely. In the lidERA trial of more than 4,100 women with early breast cancer, the oral SERD giredestrant lowered the risk of cancer coming back by 30% compared with standard therapy, and fewer women stopped because of side effects. It isn’t approved for early breast cancer yet, and the FDA’s decision is expected by the end of November.

Your oncologist treats the cancer. I help you manage the menopause side of treatment so you can feel like yourself again, working right alongside your care team. Book a consult at the link in bio.

Educational content only, not medical advice. Please talk with your oncologist about your treatment options.

If the podcast or Dr. Teplinsky have Instagram handles, tag them in the caption. It helps reach and it’s a nice professional courtesy.

Skipped the gym. Still got my sets in. 💪 Event setup day = farmer’s carries, front-loaded carries, and a whole lot of walking back and forth. No membership required.

Here’s the real message behind the joke: strength matters so much in midlife. As estrogen drops in perimenopause and menopause, we lose muscle and bone faster. Staying strong helps protect your bones, your balance, your metabolism, and your independence for years to come.

I talk about this with my patients all the time. And I always tell them the same thing: you don’t need a perfect routine for it to count.

Carry the groceries in one trip. Take the stairs. Lift the laundry basket with good form. Do squats while your coffee brews. Move the chairs for your own event. 😉

The gym is great when you can get there. But on the busy weeks, let life be your workout. Meet your body where you are, and keep moving.

What’s your sneakiest “workout” of the week? Tell me below 👇

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

A cancer diagnosis is something that happens to you. How you meet it is still yours. The questions you ask, the people you bring with you and the way you care for yourself through treatment all matter.

Research shows that a strong mindset and good support can improve quality of life during cancer care. That is not the same as saying attitude decides the outcome. No woman should ever feel she caused her cancer or failed because it progressed. What it means is that you deserve care that treats the whole woman, not just the diagnosis.

And the most powerful tool we have is catching it early. Most women should start screening mammograms at 40. If you’re due, or not sure when you should start, this is your sign to book it.
