Happy Hot Dog Birthday! 🌭🌭🌭 I’m proud that we’ve made it this far. I really didn’t know what would happen when I decided to go solo after getting laid off in 2023. Every year has been a little different, but each year rewarding in its own way. Here are some of our favorite projects over these 3 years. This year we’re feeling a lot of momentum and putting out the best work that has come from the studio. Big thanks to @mollyksmith.designs for jumping on board and absolutely crushing it, to our clients for trusting us with the work, and to Kate for supporting my dream while she chases her own at @monsterasbooks . Cheers to another one! #designstudio #studioanniversary #kcdesignstudio #overlandparkdesigner by @hotdogdesignstudio

Snippets from my monthly *10 things worth sharing* newsletter 🌭 It’s sometimes sentimental, sometimes silly, always packed with quotes, videos, articles, or podcasts I’m enjoying. This thing has somehow survived 7 issues so far, and imma keep going so you might as well jump on board now. Subscribe using the link in bio! ❤️ www.hotdog.design/newsletter by @hotdogdesignstudio

“People don’t buy *what* you do, they buy *why* you do it.” - Simon Sinek I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately – about why this type of work is important to me and how I can communicate my “why” to other people. There are plenty of folks out here doing the same kind of work. The tools we have in 2026 help lots of people do lots of things themselves. But sometimes you want to work with a human, a real neighbor who knows what you’re about, who knows your name, and who has the same goal of making our corner of the world a tiny bit better. We’re not here to make junk. We’re not here to optimize click-through rates. We want to use our hard-earned craft to make work that lasts – work that makes a real impact on the real world and on real people. If you’re trying to make your corner of the world better, shoot us a note. We’d love to help. - Justin 🌭 by @hotdogdesignstudio

NEW MURAL: SHARE THE JOY OF BOOKS 📚🤙 This fall, @monsterasbooks expanded into a brand new space and needed help bringing some color and history to the blank white walls. We’re really proud of how it turned out and grateful to the team for trusting us with the job. Hopefully it brings joy to book lovers for many years to come 😃 #monsterasbooks #sharethejoyofbooks #bookstoremural #mural #kcbrandstudio taken in Downtown Overland Park by @hotdogdesignstudio

“I’m in the process of quitting my job and buying a coffee truck. Probably getting it this weekend…” - The best kind of after-hours text 😃☕️ Joe bought his truck in the spring, quit his 9-5, and started working on all the logistics it takes to open a food truck. In the meantime, we helped him name the business (Joe’s Roadside Coffee), created a brand with the vibe of a blue-collar pit stop, and built out practical deliverables to get this thing off the ground: truck graphics, social media templates, and even custom cup sleeves. When he texted me that day, I believe my response was “F*******************ck yeah!!!!!!!” I was excited to see a friend go after a crazy dream, and this project lived up to the hype. Congrats to my buddy, Joe, for doing the thing. If you’re out in L.A., keep an eye out for the best coffee service on wheels, @joesroadsidecoffee! 💙 taken in Los Angeles, California by @hotdogdesignstudio
