This series was based on my Midwestcore minimalist photography I was doing right before I started tattooing. In the Midwest, it’s so flat, and all I used to ever see looking out the window of the school bus or lying down in the backs of cars with my chronic migraines—was just the powerlines.

When I was in grade school, I used to imagine this superhero kind of guy that would surf the lines all the way to school. It was a devastatingly boring & forever taking trip.

So much of my life just no dopamine staring across the cold hostile agriculture. Watching the lines cruise past. But it was just after I met Clover—she taught me how powerful your environment was as an artist. That no matter how much of a symbol of sorrow it was for you, it was your most profound source of inspiration. That’s when I started finding the beauty in it. She’s the OG #midwestgothic

Every day it’s the main thing that dominates the horizon and my visual experience of living & driving through the post apocalyptic farmlands of rural America. This series is a capture in that moment of time. Throughout history, cultures use their surroundings as inspiration for their tattoo patterns—the powerlines are my visual influence.

@loveyouclover is a really amazing teammate and cofounder. She has so much to offer and is invaluable. A truly kind & talented person. That makes it easier to fight for her.

We only have so much time and we’re making it count. Instead of letting despair win, we’re doing some meaningful through all this. We’re going to change our own lives and we’re going to change the lives of countless others as well.

Hmu if you got an old heat press and you’re in LA or if you’ve got any advice for a first time sublimation printer for 1 of 1 fashion items, curios your thoughts on what kind of paper & ink, I was just gonna use an Epson Inkjet, I’m a beast with piecing together 20 sheets of paper from years of doing massive tattoo stencils so not worried about the small print size or trying to line up my prints. #sublimation #diy #tattoo taken in DTLA by @hotscratcher

I’m taking Molina, the evil health insurance company to court today to fight for Clover to get a life saving surgery they denied her. Im fucking proud of myself. This last year and a half, I’ve been helping save lives. I’ve been successfully beating insurance denials, writing templates that work, winning appeals, and today, when it gets really ugly and appeals fail, it’s my second ever Expedited State Fair Hearing. The previous one they settled out of court before the hearing. It’s crazy it’s legal for me to do this stuff lol as an Authorized Representative. I’m basically a paralegal because it’s health insurance so it’s grey area. God demands I be a scratcher lawyer and that I save lives. And let me say tattooing is a PRIVILEGE omfg I wish I was tattooing 12hrs a day not writing court dossiers to fight evil health insurance companies, but this is temporary we’re making our huge comeback soon. At least I’m leaving a hell of a legacy behind that’s gonna help millions of young women get care. I have free templates on how to beat Insurance denials and I actually know how to find care and navigate the system, and I’m gonna make sure allllll that shit is fully public via the Visible Illness Substack soon as we get through these surgeries for Clover. Just need things to not be l1fe or D3ath for a minute so I can br3athe and actually get back to content. Wish me luck today I’m gonna kick their ass! You never know though it’s a lottery with the administrative law judges, it’s literally selected at random it’s like a queue they work remote and it’s all by phone and they could be anywhere in California. It makes it much harder for the insurance companies to corrupt the judges though which is cool that they do it that way. It’s a special type of judge they just hear mostly medi-cal cases. To my friends and family and followers of me & Clover, I kindly ask a watch or a skim through this free documentary from 2025 (link pinned in comments). It’s a great insight into why I’m fighting so hard to save Clovers life. This is what our life has been the last 1.5 years. Clover has hEDS and is suff3ring h0rribly and declining fast BUT, she can be fixed up super well and have a great quality of life, she literally just needs a couple surgeries. The specialists are mostly in Baltimore, there’s some in LA, but insurance keeps denying her care, or the people she needs to see take cash only. Clover is my ride or d1e and I’m gonna keep fighting she’s worth it and there IS care for her and we are gonna make a big comeback soon.
