‘i’m the lucky one’ is out today with a music video filmed in tokyo 🖤 links in bio

I wrote this during a period where I was finding it pretty difficult to see anything good in my life, I kept thinking about how easy it is to become completely consumed by what’s missing and what went wrong so I started looking for small things that were still there something as simple as the robins that hang around the place where I live, birds in general are pretty awesome for that.. and then it gets me thinking about other cool stuff and out my spirals

this song came from that. not pretending everything was okay, but trying to change my perspective enough to keep moving

the music video is directed by my good friend @keidoguchi - filmed from a distance, the silhouettes of strangers moving through tokyo became a quiet reflection of our shared humanity.. separate lives, passing each other, each carrying something we can’t see. when kei told me about the idea it definitely felt like the right visual language for a song about trying to find your way back to gratitude. Keiさん、本当にありがとうございます。チームの皆さんもありがとうございます。

i hope you find something in it

my new single ‘i’m the lucky one’ with a music video is out this friday 11th september, presave in bio

it was recorded in @black_bay_studio on the isle of lewis scotland and the music video was made in tokyo japan with @keidoguchi 🖤slide for some more pics and info ~~~>

recording guitar and vocal in black bay studios on the Isle of lewis, pete & cal the engineers got this amazing wall of microphones in front of me and around the room to create some crispy fresh new textures I haven’t tried before, really brought some new life into the project

preparing to film the video for ‘i’m the lucky one’ with kei in tokyo, on the other side of the hill there were dozens of baseball fields with lots of young people playing baseball, was an incredible experience, felt like I was going to wake up from a dream all the time

recording on the grand piano in black bay, it’s the first time I’ve added piano to this project it really brought a whole new feeling and sound to the music which was unexpected

the view from the control room in black bay studios is so beautiful, eagles in the sky and ram’s walking passed the window everyday by @howru000
