Ever wonder what we use all the peanut butter that gets donated to us for? 🥜🐾

One of the main ways we use it is for dog enrichment! As shown in the photos, we spread peanut butter (and sometimes add a few treats) onto frisbees and freeze them for the dogs to enjoy.

For our higher-energy dogs, we often place the frozen frisbees outside their kennels so they have to work a little harder to get them, providing extra mental stimulation. For our lower-energy dogs, we give them the frisbees right in their kennels so they can enjoy a relaxing enrichment activity.

Enrichment is so important for shelter dogs. It helps keep their minds active, reduces stress, and gives them something fun to focus on throughout the day. A happy mind means lots of wagging tails!

Our dogs absolutely love anything peanut butter. We also use it to make frozen bone sandwiches, and sometimes we mix it with canned food before freezing it into special treats. Peanut butter is one of our most-used enrichment items and helps us keep our dogs happy, engaged, and entertained.

🎃🐾 Spooky season is here, and our dogs are serving up some hilarious costume-free transformations!

From pups that look like seals lounging on the beach to dogs that could pass for tiny horses, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite funny comparisons. 🍂😂

While you’re enjoying the laughs, we wanted to share that we are currently FULL of dogs and need your help finding them homes. To celebrate the fall season and help make some kennel space, all dogs 6 months of age and older are 25% off their adoption fee!

🍂🐾 Looking for something fun to do with your family this fall, or maybe just need a breather after a long week? Our Doggy Day Out Program is the perfect way to spend an afternoon while giving one of our shelter pups a much-needed break from kennel life! Enjoy some quality time together while helping a dog relax, have fun, and show off their true personality outside the shelter. 🐾🍂

How it works:
🐶 Apply in person or online (you do not have to wait to hear back from anyone!)
🐶 Bring a valid driver’s license
🐶 Read & sign our rulebook
🐶 Choose one of our Doggy Day Out–approved dogs
🐶 Sign them out & grab a Doggy Day Out bag full of supplies

Dogs can head out between 12 PM – 5 PM, Tuesday through Sunday.

Whether it’s a walk through the fall leaves, a trip to get a pup cup, an adventure around town, or simply some relaxing couch cuddles, your outing helps our dogs decompress, have fun, and show off their true personalities outside the shelter.

You may only have them for a few hours, but those few hours can make a huge difference in their day. ❤️

If Clowder 2 had its own reality TV show, it would definitely be worth watching. 📺🐱

First, let us introduce Williams! Williams is 4 years old and came to us on May 21, 2026. He’s a sweet guy—as long as everything is on his terms. He’s confident, has no concept of personal space, and will happily get right up into your bubble. Williams has had some teeth removed, so he prefers canned food over dry food.

Next up is Elizabeth! Elizabeth is also 4 years old and came in with Williams on May 21, 2026. She’s an independent girl, especially around new people. Most days you can find her catching up on her beauty sleep. Like Williams, she has had some teeth removed and prefers canned food over dry food.

And finally, we have Hannibal! Hannibal is 3 years old and came to us on April 23, 2026. He’s a little more shy and prefers affection on his own terms. The quickest way to become his friend? Treats! He absolutely loves them and will happily make an appearance when snacks are involved.

Now for the storyline…

When Williams and Elizabeth first arrived, they were completely attached at the hip. If you walked by Clowder 2, there was a good chance you’d find them cuddled up together. They were practically inseparable.

Then Hannibal entered the picture.

Instead of creating drama, Hannibal decided to join the cast. Before long, the pair became a trio, and now all three can regularly be found snuggled together. Williams and Elizabeth still enjoy their one-on-one cuddle time, but if Williams is out and about, chances are Hannibal is right there with him. Hannibal has become so comfortable that he’ll often lay directly on top of Williams and Elizabeth.

So while we expected a little reality TV drama, what we got was a wholesome cuddle-filled friendship that nobody saw coming. ❤️

🐾 Meet Black Panther 🐾

Black Panther is a handsome 1-year-old couch potato who came back to us on September 19, 2026, and is now looking for a calm, loving home to call his own.

This sweet boy has been diagnosed with feline idiopathic cystitis, which means he does best in a low-stress environment and will need to stay on his special C/D wet and dry food diet to help keep him healthy. He will also need regular veterinary checkups to monitor his urinary health and help prevent future issues. Because stress can trigger flare-ups, Black Panther would likely do best in a quieter home without young children.

Don’t let that fool you into thinking he’s shy—Black Panther is incredibly affectionate! He loves curling up on your lap for hours and will happily rub his face against yours for extra love and attention. He’s also cat-friendly and enjoys the company of other feline friends.

If you’re looking for a gentle, lovable companion who enjoys the simple things in life—snuggles, naps, and quality time with his people—Black Panther might be the perfect match for you. ❤️🐈‍⬛ taken in Humane Society for Greater Lafayette by @hs4gl

🌹Meet Rosie!🌹

Rosie hit a milestone no dog should have to celebrate, her 1 year anniversary at the shelter was September 22. 💔

This sweet girl is a little over 2 years old and has plenty of love, personality, and playful energy to share. Rosie does well with other dogs and would thrive with an active family who enjoys walks, adventures, and exploring the world together. She may be a little too much energy for cats, but that doesn’t stop her from being a wonderful companion!

Rosie has been waiting patiently for a family who will truly appreciate her quirky personality, give her the love she deserves, and most importantly a comfy couch to call her own.
