This girl is on a mission to make the best bread in Idaho… and you’re coming along!

Lots of desert highways, lots of diesel, a questionable amount of caffeine, and a heart that just won’t stop chasing big things for our little bread shop. 🥖🩷

Can’t tell you what this trip is for just yet. Any guesses? Besides how much coffee it takes to fuel my enthusiasm for all things farming, agriculture, and really good bread. 😂

Oops… did I just give it away? 😉🥖 taken in Interstate 80 in Nevada by @hudsonbakingco

There is something so special about watching a vision slowly come to life. 🏡🩷

This little bakery has so much history, so many memories, and so much heart poured into every square foot. Getting to make these changes is exciting, emotional, and honestly a little overwhelming.

And then there are businesses like @brightoncorporation @homes.brighton , and @greyloch_llc who remind me just how extraordinary our community really is.

I cannot begin to express how grateful I am for the generosity Brighton has shown our tiny local bread shop. I’ve always believed that quality matters, that the details matter, and that the things we build should be made to last. It’s something we’ve poured our hearts into at Hudson Baking Co., and something I deeply admire about Brighton.

The quality of their products is beautiful, but what has impressed me even more is the quality of the people behind them. Their generosity, genuine kindness, and willingness to support a little local business like ours speak volumes about the kind of company they are.

And a special thank you to Eli, whose patience, knowledge, and exceptional customer service have made this entire experience so wonderful. She has made me feel like our little project matters just as much as any big one. 💕

These aren’t just cabinets, counters, and finishes to me. They’re part of a dream that was built with so much love. A dream I’m doing everything I can to keep growing.

Brighton, thank you for believing in our little shop and supporting us in such a BIG way. Your generosity means more than you could possibly know.

I cannot wait to open our doors and share this next chapter with all of you. Because this little place has always been about so much more than bread. 🩷 taken in Brighton Corporation by @hudsonbakingco

I walked through the empty building after a full night of employees and friends helping prepare it for the changes coming.

It brought me back to the first time I walked through the door of this little farmhouse. It felt like home. I knew I was right where I needed to be, and I knew how much work it would take.

I spent months stripping trim, patching, painting, cleaning. Dreaming of all that these little walls could become.

Today, I stood in that same space, tired but still dreaming of all the things it will become.

Only this time, so many people are helping me carry it. Because this place means so damn much to so many of you.

And that means everything to me. 🩷 taken in Hudson Baking Co by @hudsonbakingco

Kuna, you are the most incredible community. 🩷

Adam and the team at Sherwin Williams wanted to help with our little bread shop, and they have generously offered to donate ALL of the paint for our new interior. 😭

I walked in and received the most incredible customer service, and left with lots of fun samples and so much excitement for what’s coming. Getting to imagine this little space with fresh paint feels pretty special.

This remodel is happening because people in our community keep showing up and asking how they can help. Every offer, every donation, every person giving their time means so much to us. I’m constantly reminded how many people care about this tiny shop.

Adam and Sherwin Williams, thank you for being part of this next chapter. We are so grateful to call Kuna home and to keep serving a community that has given us so much. 🩷 taken in Kuna, Idaho by @hudsonbakingco

Gus has a little announcement for you 🩷

Our little bread shop will be closed October 12th through the 24th while we get some much needed work done.

There is an incredible community of people coming together, donating their time, their skills, and their labor to make this remodel happen. Because they’re giving their time so generously, we’re working around their availability. We know closing takes some planning for all of you too, and we’re so thankful for your understanding.

And your donations. I am blown away by the support from all of you!! You’ve helped make work possible that I couldn’t have taken on by myself.

This little shop holds so much of the life Aaron and I built together. So many early mornings, late nights, dreams, and sacrifices. I walk through these doors every day knowing how much we put into it, and how much still depends on it. Our family. Our team. The farmers and producers we buy from. All of you who make our bread part of your daily lives.

There is so much I’m still figuring out. So much that feels heavy. And then people show up, look at what needs to be done, and say, “I can help with that.” I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to explain what that means to me.

We may be tiny, but there is so much love poured into this place. Thank you for helping me take care of it, for believing in its future, and for continuing to show up for our family. I’m so grateful we get to keep feeding this community. 🩷 taken in Hudson Baking Co by @hudsonbakingco

I remember the day the Boise Co-op told us they wanted bread from our little bread shop on their shelves. We were so honored.

Aaron grew up in the North End. When we were teenagers, we’d wander the aisles of the @boisecoop together, buying kombucha and whatever fun treats caught our eye. We had no idea then how much we would come to care about ingredients, the people growing our food, and the local food system. We just loved being there together.

Years later, our bread ended up on those shelves. That meant so much to us.

The Co-op has stood behind Hudson Baking Co. through some of our most difficult times. They’ve reached out, asked what we needed, and quietly held us up. I’ll never forget that.

They do that for so many local farmers and makers. They get to know the people behind the food, care about how it’s made, and give small businesses a place in the community they serve. When you shop at the Boise Co-op, you’re supporting the people who grow and make food here, including little bread shops like ours.

Thank you, Boise Co-op, for believing in us and for being there when we needed you most. Aaron would be so proud to see our bread still on your shelves. 🥖🩷 taken in Boise Co-op by @hudsonbakingco

It’s been 57 days since Aaron passed away.

Our oldest had her first homecoming dance. That hit me really hard.

I’ve never experienced grief before, and I’m learning that it isn’t an isolated feeling. I’ve had moments of joy, peace, and laughter alongside the deepest sadness I’ve ever known. But I miss his steadiness.

There is a storm that rages inside of me when I think about our life together. It’s strange to look at everything we built and realize one of the legs holding it all up is suddenly missing. There is a tremendous amount of pressure in trying to hold everything up on my own.

Everyone told me what grief would be like, but I don’t think any description even cuts the surface.

You’re feeling all of the good things right alongside the bad ones. You can laugh and mean it. You can have a beautiful day. You can feel peace. And still, underneath it all, miss someone so badly it physically hurts.

It’s hard to watch life continue forward when they’re still back there, exactly where everything left off when they left.

The sadness can be crippling. The loneliness leaves a hole so deep that nothing seems capable of filling it. You’re left with all the pieces of the life you built together, trying to figure out how to put it back together when the piece at the center is missing.

“You’re so lucky” is something I hear often. Lucky that I had a love so real. Something some people spend their entire lives searching for.

But I don’t know if I feel lucky.

Losing my best friend doesn’t feel lucky at all.

Mostly, I still feel in shock. Like there are waves building alongside me, and I’m constantly wondering if this will be the one that topples me.

And yet, even in the darkest moments, I can still see beauty. I can still see parts of this life that are good, kind, and fun. I can laugh. I can love my children. I can look around at everything Aaron and I built and know that so much of him still exists here.

My life continues to propel forward, whether I’m ready or not. But the future feels as vast as an ocean without the anchor that was Aaron holding it all in place.

So for now, I’m learning how to live with the waves.
Thanks for being here with me. 💕 taken in Boise, Idaho by @hudsonbakingco

The @boisefarmersmarket has been so incredibly good to us.

Farmers markets have always been at the heart of what we believe in at Hudson. They are one of the most beautiful ways to strengthen a local food system. They connect you directly to the people growing your food, making your food, raising your food, and pouring everything they have into feeding their community. For us, the market has never just been a place to sell bread. It has been a place to build relationships, support other local farmers and makers, and get to know the people we bake for every week.

And we have loved it so much.

For years, Aaron and I spent our weekends at the market. Early mornings, loading everything up, setting up our booth, grabbing coffee, seeing familiar faces, talking to customers, and hopefully going home with an empty table. Some of my favorite memories of building this little bakery with him happened there.

When we lost Aaron, I truly didn’t know if I could come back.

There was so much of him wrapped up in the market. I didn’t know what it would feel like to stand there without him or whether I would be ready to do something that had belonged so deeply to the life we built together.

And the Boise Farmers Market gave us the space to figure that out. They kept our spot for us. They were patient. They supported us through an unimaginable season and made sure there was still a place for Hudson whenever we were ready to return.

Coming back has been emotional, but it has also felt so, so good.

I’ve missed the early mornings. I’ve missed the energy. I’ve missed seeing all of you. And I’m incredibly proud that Hudson is back, still showing up, still baking bread, still supporting our local food system, and still carrying forward so much of what Aaron and I believed in together.

Thank you, Boise, for welcoming us back with open arms. Thank you to the Boise Farmers Market for taking care of us when we needed it most. And thank you to my incredible team, because none of this happens without them.

It feels really good to be back. 🩷🥖 taken in Boise, Idaho by @hudsonbakingco
