I wanted to discover whether batik could truly be enjoyed at home, without a studio, a backyard or hours of active work.

So, my sister and I tried it at my study table. She had never made batik before, yet in under five minutes, we had waxed and dyed a small bracelet. We left the colour to develop overnight and returned for the reveal the following day.

That simple experiment changed the way I thought about teaching batik.It showed me that this beautiful heritage craft can belong anywhere, from an everyday study table to the finest table in your home.

And that little bracelet became the beginning of our batik kit, our online masterclasses and The Christmas Edit.

A moment from last year that we never properly shared.

Hues of Batik was featured by @womanandhome UK with our DIY Batik Kit recognised as a way of bringing the beauty of batik into the home. Seeing our work included in a story about a new generation reimagining this traditional craft was incredibly special to us.It may be a little late to share, but it remains a moment we are very proud of.
