What a wonderful moment to celebrate community, culture, and inclusion! ✨

It was an honor to join city leaders and community members at the San Francisco War Memorial to celebrate AB 2017, a meaningful milestone recognizing Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha and advancing religious and cultural inclusion across California. 🌙

A heartfelt thank you to Assemblymember Matt Haney, Hala Hijazi, and the Agency for Human Rights for bringing our communities together to celebrate this important achievement.

Moments like these remind us of the power of representation, unity, and the importance of ensuring that all communities feel seen, valued, and celebrated. We were honored to be part of such a special occasion! 💜

🚒❤️ Building a stronger and equitable San Francisco—together!

Today, the San Francisco Department on the Status of Women (DOSW) was proud to stand alongside the San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD) to highlight our partnership and shared commitment to advancing the San Francisco Women’s Agenda.

We are grateful for SFFD’s collaboration and dedication to creating meaningful change for women, girls, and non-binary people across our city.

✨ Through continued collaboration and collective action, we look forward to building a brighter, more equitable future for all San Franciscans!

Our summer cohort of fellows from the Black-to-SF program learned first-hand about how being a public defender means showing up for people. Here, they shared with us some of the most meaningful experiences that they had supporting our clients in jail and in court.

We’re honored to host students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) each summer, and we appreciate the @humanrightscommissionsf for facilitating this important opportunity. We encourage the City to invest in B2SF for years to come! by @humanrightscommissionsf

Our Young Defender summer interns made a big impact on justice, and the experience left a lasting impact on them. Programs like these, that educate and engage local youth to observe and connect with our justice system, are a worthy investment in the lives of these students and the future of justice in San Francisco.

We are grateful to the @humanrightscommissionsf and @Opps4All for facilitating this paid summer internship and we can’t wait to see where our Young Defenders go next! by @humanrightscommissionsf

As students head back to school, @humanrightscommissionsf and @sfpublicdefender are taking time to celebrate all the successes of our Opportunities for All participants this past summer. Hundreds of young people ages 13 to 24 engaged in meaningful, quality career exploration opportunities.  We are VERY proud of our Young Defenders who engaged with attorneys, paralegals, and clients at the S.F. Public Defender's Office. Listen to our students share their experiences and the importance of these opportunities. by @humanrightscommissionsf

What is shared in these surveys and summits will inform future City and SFUSD planning for children, youth, and families.

Citywide survey available August 20 through December 31.

Family Summits (14 in total) will be held at sites across all City districts, September 12 to December 12.

We @sfpublicdefender and @humanrightscommissionsf congratulate Opportunities for All's B2SF fellows for all of their meaningful contributions in service of justice. This summer, a cohort of nine B2SF fellows staffed the Public Defender's Pretrial Release Unit, worked closely with attorneys in court, and participated in a variety of projects involving complex legal matters.

It's an honor to provide students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) with opportunities to build toward their careers and to build bonds with each other and the Bay Area. We appreciate Mayor @danielluriesf, Supervisor @shamannwalton, and all our partners for their continued support.

Yesterday, I had the privilege of speaking with the San Francisco Human Rights Commission’s Black to San Francisco (B2SF) interns and HBCU students from across the country who are spending their summer interning here in San Francisco.

As a proud @FiskUniversity graduate, it was especially meaningful to share my own journey—from an HBCU classroom to a career in public service, and ultimately to serving as California’s State Controller.

I reminded these incredible young leaders that there is no single path to making a difference. Stay curious. Stay grounded in your values. And never underestimate the power of using your voice and your talents in service to others.

To each of these students: your journey is just beginning, and I can’t wait to see the impact you’ll have on your communities and our future. taken in San Francisco, California by @humanrightscommissionsf
