We’re very proud to announce our renewed collaboration with the Bantu Film Festival in Gaborone, Botswana! ❤️

From 21–24 October, the festival brings together African filmmakers, artists and audiences through screenings, conversations and community.

And on 22 October, Human Rights Tattoo will be there — together with two incredible tattoo artists from Gaborone: Ink Samara and Keith Strauss — to add new letters to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

𝘖𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘤𝘺, 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘥𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺.

Tika Stardust breaks taboos around intimacy and sexual care. As a social-erotic caregiver and author, she challenges the stigma surrounding sexuality in healthcare — especially for people with disabilities.
Known from her TEDx talk and the book A Piece of Love, Stardust advocates for sexual inclusion and the recognition that touch, intimacy and being seen are fundamental human needs.

𝘚𝘶𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘷𝘰𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘣𝘰𝘺 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘳𝘶𝘯𝘴 𝟤𝟢𝟢𝟢 𝘬𝘮 𝘵𝘰 𝘙𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘢 𝘪𝘯 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝟦 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘴𝘦 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨.

As a Human Rights Tattoo member and ultrarunner, Sameena pushes physical and mental limits for human rights. Starting June 1, she will run 80–90 kilometers a day for an entire month — following a known trafficking route in reverse.

Her mission is deeply personal. As a teenager, Sameena became a victim of a lover boy. Today, she turns that experience into action against human trafficking and sexual exploitation — literally step by step.
During this journey, she will also film a documentary about the run. Come and listen to her story!

At Human Rights Tattoo Meetup 4, we’ll bring those
stories together. An afternoon filled with short,
personal presentations from members of this tattoo
community; people who work towards hope, justice
and connection in their daily lives.

📢 We are delighted that Sameena van der Mijden will
be speaking at the this Meetup The day before (!) her
impressive Run to Romania. Her story is a personal
one: as a young woman, she fell victim to a ‘loverboy’,
an experience that profoundly shaped her life and
which now drives her mission.
With her ultra-run of over 2,000 kilometres, Sameena is
committed to the fight against sexual abuse and
human trafficking. As a Human Rights Tattoo member
and ultra-runner, she pushes physical and mental
boundaries to raise awareness of human rights. Her
story inspires to make a difference, step by step! by @humanrightstattoo

International art and tattoo project Human Rights Tattoo is very proud to announce that it will have her first Lithuanian events in collaboration with Coming Out, The Others and Lithuanian Gay League.
Human Rights Tattoo will have two tattoo days at 20 and 21 February where the project continues to tattoo the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, letter by letter.

✨ Human Rights Tattoo returns to Kathmandu ✨

We are very pleased to be invited once again to tattoo letters from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Kathmandu, Nepal!
We tattoo the declaration of human rights, letter by letter, 6773 letters on 6773 people.

This special Human Rights Tattoo (HRT) event takes place during the 2nd Queer Film Festival, Nepal’s foremost queer cinema event, hosted by Docskool – Documentary Open School.

In the lead-up to the festival, Docskool students created a short film under the mentorship of Sander van Bussel, artistic director of HRT. The film’s final moment comes to life through the tattooing of an HRT letter on the story’s protagonist.
Alongside the films, the festival will feature workshops and conversations around queer identity, visibility, and human rights .

30 MOIS POUR UN T-SHIRT

Une coalition internationale exige la libération immédiate et inconditionnelle d'Ibtissame Betty Lachgar, 100 jours après le début de sa détention.

Nous, les organisations soussignées, condamnons la condamnation et l'emprisonnement d'Ibtissame Betty Lachgar, une féministe marocaine et défenseuse des droits humains condamnée à 30 mois de prison pour avoir posté sur les réseaux sociaux une photo d'elle portant un t-shirt lisant « Allah est lesbienne ».

Elle avait déjà porté le t-shirt en 2022 à l'extérieur du Maroc comme déclaration contre la persécution et l'exécution de femmes lesbiennes en Iran. Le slogan est tiré de la phrase féministe historique « J'ai vu Dieu. Elle est noire, communiste et lesbienne. ”

L'emprisonnement de Betty depuis le 10 août 2025 représente une grave violation des droits humains universels.

Elle est détenue uniquement pour avoir exercé pacifiquement sa liberté de pensée et d’expression. Sa condamnation en vertu de l’article 267-5 du Code pénal marocain contrevient aux obligations du Maroc au titre du Pacte international relatif aux droits civils et politiques (PIDCP).

Elle s'est vu refuser un traitement médical urgent et détenue en isolement, contrairement à l'Ensemble de règles minimales des Nations Unies pour le traitement des détenus (Règles Mandela). Les autorités n'ont pas non plus réussi à s'attaquer aux menaces de mort et de viol généralisées qui lui sont adressées.

La Coalition Free Betty exhorte les autorités marocaines à :

1. Libérez immédiatement et sans condition Ibtissame Betty Lachgar.

2. Appliquer les peines alternatives prévues par la loi marocaine, telles que l'assignation à résidence ou le travail d'intérêt général.

3. Assurer des conditions qui respectent sa santé et sa dignité, y compris la fin de l'isolement et du traitement inhumain.

4. Fournir des soins médicaux spécialisés urgents et adéquats, conformément aux normes internationales.

5. Abroger l'article 267-5 du Code pénal et toutes les dispositions restreignant la liberté d'expression.
