Help us bring Love Letter to Oakland Mural #4 to life!

The first three murals were created thanks to a mix of city grants, small donations, bartered studio space, and countless volunteer hours. Driven by love for Oakland and the Bay, we’ve poured our hearts into every brushstroke.

With the City of Oakland making further cuts to Arts & Culture funding, we need your support to bring Love Letter to Oakland #4 to life in the summer of 2025.

Everything raised will go towards equipment, supplies and community painting events.

We are happy to announce the launch of our new website along with the short film piece that accompanies the Love Letter to Oakland mural project.

Love Letter to Oakland is funded by grants and donations from community members that appreciate the work we’ve been doing over the last five years. Our team is grateful for the love and support from the community and are excited about the next stages of the project.

Took a quick trip to visit the new mural in Richmond by @panchopescador, @hungryghoststudio and team. Their last day of finalizing it, so beautiful! It shines the light on history of black women ship building, Ohlone tribe, and other community elements - both human and natural landscape Love it! Five years ago today we lost one of the giants in the art world.

Hung Liu influenced and mentored a generation of young artists in the Bay while teaching at Mills College. Those of us that knew her were blessed by her kindness and generosity coupled with her sharp wit & humor. Her fearless approach to life and art inspired all of us.

Hung Liu was featured in the second Love Letter to Oakland Mural painted shortly after her passing. You can find the mural on the corner of 51st & Telegraph in Oakland.

Arnold’s Place is a 50-bed recuperative care center designed to support adults experiencing homelessness as they recover from illness, injury, or hospitalization. Recuperative care, also referred to as medical respite, provides short-term residential care for people who are too sick to recover on the streets but do not require ongoing hospital care, serving as a critical bridge between hospital and housing.

Arnold’s Place is named in honor of Arnold Perkins, a treasured community leader and public health champion whose decades of work have improved health outcomes and dignity for unhoused community members taken in Alameda, California by @hungryghoststudio
