Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, was the perfect place to getaway with some of our closest friends @cw_call and @tavitkazanjian We had an AMAZING time celebrating Cameron’s 40th bday.

It was a dream trip filled with breathtaking sunsets over the ocean, delicious food around every corner, plenty of sunshine, lots of speedos and incredible weather this time of year—warm days, ocean breezes, and beautiful skies. We embraced a slower pace that let us truly relax, reconnect, and simply enjoy being together.

Exploring hidden beaches, snorkeling in crystal-blue water, and sharing so many laughs and quiet moments made the trip unforgettable. One of the things we appreciated most was being able to relax, be ourselves, and feel safe and welcomed as LGBTQ individuals in such a vibrant and inclusive place.

As I reflect on my journey, one truth stands out: my life is no longer about finding certainty. It is about becoming increasingly honest.
I have questioned beliefs that once anchored me. I have navigated family relationships that carry both love and pain. I have built a marriage that reflects who I am rather than who others expected me to be.

Pride, for me, is not simply about being a gay man. It is about the courage to remain visible after learning that visibility comes with a cost.

Many people choose belonging over authenticity. I chose authenticity—and then did the hard work of keeping my heart open anyway. That is a different kind of pride: not superiority or defiance, but dignity.

On this eve of Pride Month, I honor not only the parts of myself that were celebrated, but also the parts that survived being misunderstood:
The young man who wanted approval.
The man who lost a faith community.
The husband who keeps choosing love.
The son who carries grief.
The seeker who keeps asking deeper questions.
And the elder I am becoming—one who values truth over performance.

May this next chapter feel less like proving who I am and more like enjoying who I have become. 🌈

10 years ago today, Jim posted a beautiful and heartfelt song from Joni Mitchel “Both Sides Now”. So I messaged him for first time on Facebook. We call it our “Messageaversary”. Vulnerability is what fueled our decision to get to know each other. I am forever grateful for the universe that brought us together in a world where love can be so challenging to find. I’m reclaiming my precious, mental and emotional time and energy by deleting Instagram and Facebook for the rest of January. Our love or marriage is not a debate topic. It is one of the most basic human rights along with 823,000 other queer couples in the USA.
As the Supreme Court weighs the case from Kim Davis today that wants to overturn marriage equality, we’re holding on to the hope that our country is a place where can live with the rights that were granted only 10 years ago.
