I knit tiny nonsense.
But I don't check my DMs. I'm not great at seeing comments either.

This is a perfect example of the kind of pilling I expect to see and don't mind at all. It's easy to deal with (I use a @gleener to deal with pills and I love it to pieces, everything they make is fantastic), you don't have to do it all that often (I've had this sweater for the better part of a year, worn it often, and this is the first time dealing with this on this sweater), and it very much helps keep your clothing looking nice for longer.

I get super cranky when the whole sweater comes out covered in pills every single time you wear it. But this sweater is actually behaving beautifully and, given how often I complained about bad pilling on low quality garments, it seemed only fair to say nice things about a counter example! This one is by @bananarepublic I am pleasantly surprised by how well it has held up (in comparison to catastrophically shitty way all those @madewell sweaters completely disintegrated a few years ago). by @hunterhammersen

We talked about the needles, we talked about the hooks, now let's talk about the stitch gauge window!

Lay the card on your fabric, count the stitches in the window, divide by two for stitches per inch or multiply by two for stitches per 10 cm.

Is this as precise as knitting a 6 inch gauge swatch, washing it, blocking it, taking several different 4 inch measurements at various points on the fabric and figuring out the average of those? No! Are you going to do that? Also probably no. But this gets you about 95% of the way there with about five seconds of effort. And I suspect an awful lot of you will put in five seconds of effort.

The cards are up now and you can find them where you would expect to find such things on this platform…you know how it works m, you've got this! by @hunterhammersen

Do they really work? Yes absolutely!

All the punchout tools on the card really do work to save the day in a pinch. Promise! Plus twisting them out is unspeakably satisfying.

The cards are up now in the usual place! by @hunterhammersen

The yearly tradition continues! It's time to harvest a sweater from the strategic cashmere reserve (aka the pile of old sweaters I don't wear anymore at the back of the closet) and cut it down to make this year's pajama sweater.

I've done this for the past two or three winters at least, and it's always been a rousing success. I officially recommend it if you've got a sweater you never really wear out anymore and would like to bang around the house in it all winter long. by @hunterhammersen

Yes, it really does work for rescuing runaway stitches and fixing problems in a pinch! So do the needles (I'll show you those shortly).

There really are a surprising number of useful bits in a very tiny space!

They're up now, link right where you'd expect to find such a thing, and yes you can get them in time for Christmas! by @hunterhammersen

OK so did I make an error in judgment? Should I have left it? Should I avoid this thrift shop for the next couple of weeks?

It's just so pretty… And it feels good to keep the collection altogether. And I am amazed by how majestic it feels once it is washed.

By the same token, that is inarguably an excessive amount of yarn. Do I need to get a loom? If I got a loom I would want to make a blanket and that seems like an overly ambitious first project. And how much yarn does a blanket use anyways?

You tell me, would've followed you home? Should I stop buying it? How do we handle this by @hunterhammersen

So upon being reminded that the bench and napkins you spent all summer splashing around do indeed still exist, despite you having forgotten them and left them in the weather for a solid six weeks, you of course devise a plan.

That plan consists mostly of 'squish the napkins down in the bucket to soak up the last little bits of the dye, and use them to blot one more coat on the bench in the hopes of evening it out a bit.'

Then comes the final step, and one I have complete confidence in my ability to enact, namely 'leave the bench, now not covered by napkins since you took those inside to wash, sitting in the rain all weekend and then in the sun for one to five business months until it is a color you're happy with.'

We're in that sun part of the process now, and the bench has been moved to a spot where I'll see it from my office window. At some point I will decide to bring it inside (will that be when I once again do the 'walk round the house and make sure the first blizzard of the season won't find things in your yard to throw around' chore? I mean yes, but why do you ask...).

I stand by the plan. I'll let you know how it works out...eventually. by @hunterhammersen

Every woman I know has a story about a bad man. No, wait. Every woman I know has stories about bad men.

But you can help protect yourself and the women you care about. You can have abortion pills on hand. Because motherhood should never have to be the consequence of an encounter with a bad man.

Abortion pills are safe & effective. You can get them from @AidAccess. They will mail them to you no matter where you live (even in states with bans). You can get them even if you're not pregnant yet (they'll keep for several years). You can get them even if you can't afford them (no really, they want to help, it's totally ok). I like Aid Access because they're in the Netherlands and run by a stupendous badass who gives absolutely no fucks about american laws and will happily ignore any requests from law enforcement. You can also check out @PlanCPills for other options. by @hunterhammersen

Preorders will open later this week, and (assuming we have a functioning post office and a semi functioning country), they should arrive in time for Christmas!

Post with more details on the blog (link where you'd expect such things to be linked), and if you get email from me you'll get a message when they go live. But for right now, all you have to do is get excited!

now for the important bit… Are you gonna leave your tools attached until you need one? Or are you going to wiggle one out immediately just for the satisfaction? by @hunterhammersen
