We’re here to report that despite the closure of your favourite record store, chronic underfunding of our cultural infrastructure, and persistent BS from this dropkick govt… friendship, music, and dancing prevails 💖

Come see 4 urself this Friday at Public Bar! We’re going b2b for a late set amidst a sonic potluck of homies from across this divine city. See u on te papa kanikani 👯‍♀️ taken in Whammy Bar by @hunterkeane

I took this photo in 2016, on my very first day working in-store at Flying Out. Ten years on, that door has now closed.

It’s impossible to put into words what this space means to me, or how much it has shaped who I am since I was 17. I’m indebted to everyone who ever stepped foot in this building, especially the crew throughout the years that guided me through my 20s with an endless wealth of knowledge, advice, and support.

There are countless memories (far too many to list off here) and i’m heartbroken that we won’t be able to continue, but comforted by the belief that we built something special.

My dream job. by @hunterkeane

HUNTER KEANE IS A TAITE MUSIC PRIZE FINALIST FOR LONG PLAYER. That’s right, Hunter Keane is officially a Taite Music Prize Finalist for Outstanding Music Journalism, celebrating his work on Long Player for 95bFM.

As host of our weekly new release show Totally Wired, Hunter chats to a local artist each week, going through their new album track-by-track on his segment ‘Long Player’. Here, he creates a space for local artists to discuss their work in-depth and in their own words.

Hunter’s commitment to championing local music across all genres is truly unmatched, and we’re so stoked that his incredible mahi is being recognised in this way.

Hunter, we love you, and we are so unbelievably proud of you. Thank you for all that you do for music in NZ and for bFM 🥹🫶 by @hunterkeane
