♾️ stars. AMAZING. The best book two ever!!! The best duology out there! So from now on, if you ask me what my favorite book is… it’s this one!!!😭💜

Huge thanks to @berkleypub, @acebookspub, @berkleyromance, and @netgalley for the eARC!! 🫶🏼

If you’ve been here for a minute, you know I absolutely loved The Irresistible Urge to Fall for Your Enemy when I read it last year. What you also probably know is that I’m terrible with book twos, they almost never meet my expectations… book two curse I call it!!!🤷🏼‍♀️

Well, I’m happy (with happy tears in my eyes🥹🧅) to report that The Exquisite Torment of Loving Your Enemy EXCEEDED all of my expectations!!!! It is phenomenally good!!😭💜

Every time I will feel sad or need a comfort read, this will be the one I pick up..🥹🥹

I literally had to force myself to slow down because I could not believe this was it… that it was ending… that I had to say goodbye to Aurienne and Osric..😭💕

I am completely and utterly in love. Please give me 14 more of these, and I will devour every single one.

More proper review coming closer to release, I also highlighted half the book… the things coming out of their mouths OMG 😭✨

Also, I’m always happy to have a reason to take all my editions out from the shelf!!!🫣

I’ll probably be burned at the stake on this lovely Thursday for my list of books that didn’t meet my expectations, but reading is subjective, right?! RIGHT?? 🥹🔥🫣

I’m sooo often asked why I don’t share books I didn’t like… well, here are some 😌⏩

QOTD: Have you read any of these, and did they or did they not meet your expectations?👀

I really wanted to jump on this fun bookstagram trend because I’ve been loving everyone’s posts! Limiting myself to 8 books in each category was HARD (sooo hard)… and then I changed them like 10 times 😭🥹

✨ Books that exceeded my expectations
✨ Books that met my expectations
✨ Books that didn’t meet my expectations
✨ Books I have high expectations for

And before you light that match 🧨 I need to say this… every book in “didn’t meet my expectations” was read from beginning to end (except one DNF), and I’m so happy so many of you love them, I absolutely love that for you!! Really. They just personally didn’t work for me. I think the hype set my expectations a little too high, and I ended up expecting like…more 🤷🏼‍♀️🥲

✨Also this is my second full Canva post/edit and I’m honestly having so much fun with these 🥹✨ taken in BOOKSTA by @hushedlibrary

Thank you so much @jasminemasbooks @htpbooks @readmirabooks @htp_hive for the eARC!!🫶🏼🫶🏼

EXCUSE ME???? 😭 I genuinely don’t know how I’m supposed to casually move on with my life after this book????

The Emperor’s Enemy has officially ruined every single book for me. And you have to understand, I finished this in JUNE!! There hasn’t been a single day since that I haven’t thought about it.

And we’re less than a month away!! 😭 TEE releases September 15th!!

This is my favorite @jasminemasbooks book so far, and considering how much I love Blood of Hercules, I do not say that lightly.

When you say tension, THIS is the tension I want!!!😮‍💨
When you say obsession, THIS is the obsession I want!!!🫠
When you say enemies to lovers… THIS!!!! THIS IS ENEMIES TO LOVERS!!!!!🫢

This was everything I expected… and then more… and then a little more… and then MOOOOORE!!!!

I genuinely think Jasmine Mas writes the best deeply unhinged characters EVER, and I mean that in the best possible way. I love them all so much!!

And while I absolutely loved Nyx… SQUIRE?????? The tiny owl completely stole the show!! The things that came out of Squire’s mouth were absolutely unhinged, hilarious, and so unbelievably wrong 🦉🤣

Anyway. Full review coming closer to release, but for now, if you’re going to take only ONE book rec from me this year, THIS IS THE BOOK!!! Thank me later! 🫶🏼

Swipe to see some of my favorite highlights that will convince you to read it, in case I haven’t convinced you yet!! 🫣

I had a total of 101 highlights in this book, which I think makes it one of my most highlighted books EVER (Alchemised aside) 📖

Perfect sequels DO exist!!! And it is THIS BOOK!!! 😭🔥
Cursed City by Kate Golden, the sequel to Half City!!!

Happy release week, @kategoldenauthor!!! 🥹🫶🏼

Cursed City was on my “books I have HIGH expectations for” list this year and it DID. NOT. DISAPPOINT. Like, I’m literally thinking about it right now and getting goosebumps!! It was EPIC. Perfection. SO freaking good!!!

I giggled and highlighted, giggled and highlighted. I think that was basically my permanent state while reading this book 😂🧡 And then I SOBBED!!!! Like actually cried my eyes out at the end. I knew SOMETHING was coming, but I did not expect THAT!!! And now the wait for book 3???? Absolutely torturous!!!

So obviously, question here, @kategoldenauthor... WHEN IS BOOK 3???? 🥹🫣

But what I love most about this book is Deacon, of course, because Deacon is an absolute menace, chaotic psycho, and exactly my kind of unhinged, like 100% 😮‍💨🦌🪩

“Over here, motherfucker!” Deacon roars. In his loosened, scuffed tux, and with his busted nose and feral winter eyes, he looks as good as he ever has.”

But also the FOUND FAMILY!!! It is absolutely INSANE!! It was already one of my favorite parts of book one, but I think book two brought it to a whole new level. I love every single one of them so freaking much!!!

And overall I ate every single second of this book!!

So if you haven’t read book one and/or book two yet, what the hell are you doing????🥺

And favorite quote, because IYKYK:
“I see you finally found a way to sleep, brother.” I WAS SCREAMING. In my head. In real life. Everywhere. AAAAAAAAAA!!!!

SO GOOD!!! Kate, please don’t torture us with the wait for book 3.

Are you in your witchy fall era yet??? Because I have THE book for you!! 🍂🔮 Or me convincing you to add Stay a Spell by @authortierrastockham to your October TBR!!! And can we please appreciate this gorgeous cover for a second???? 😍🍂

Happy release week, and thank you so much, @authortierrastockham for the gifted eARC!! 🫶🏼

📖 On his way to a quiet trip to a Colorado cabin, Detective Callum McKinley accidentally ends up stranded in Amberhollow, a town sealed off from the world by a century old magical Veil. His only hope of getting out is making a deal with the town’s most infuriatingly charming witch, Freddie. But as they start digging into Amberhollow’s secrets together, things between them get a little... complicated!!

💭 Okay, this was my first Tierra Stockham book and well... I think I’m gonna need to go read her other books now, because I loved this one!!

A hidden magical town, witches, a small town mystery, a talking black cat, a very mouthy witch AND a grumpy detective??? This is basically made for the best kind of fall reading. Amberhollow is exactly the kind of town you would want to accidentally stumble into during October.

And everything worked: the plot, the mystery, the pacing, the characters, and the romance! I loved Freddie so much! She’s a sunshine badass with tattoos, piercings, and a BIGGGG attitude!!! And Jett!!! You already know I’m going to be obsessed with a talking black cat, but add a fairy companion too??? Oh, I was SOLD!!! Callum??? A grumpy, emotionally unavailable, hot Scottish redheaded detective who yearns??!! I loved his character so much!! I really enjoyed Freddie and Callum together. Their personalities are so different that putting them together was SOOO much fun. The chemistry was chemistrying, and the spice was WHEWW... SPICING!!!!

Sooo, if you’re currently in your spooky witchy fall era and want something cozy, magical, romantic, and spicy, add this one to your TBR!!

What better way to start Monday than with a currently reading post AND finally breaking into the fall pictures?! 🍂🎃🕯️

QOTD: What are you currently reading? 👀🍁

I’m 234 pages into Meet Cute Magic by @authormorganelizabeth and I’m IN LOVE with this book!!! 😭🫶🏼 It’s so whimsical and cozy and soooo sexy... WHEWWW 🥵😂 I could barely put it down yesterday, but apparently I had to be a responsible adult before Monday, so rude. I cannot wait to read the rest!!

This is seriously the PERFECT fall read, and I’m so happy I started my fall reading with it!! 🍂🧙🏼‍♀️✨

📖 She’s a witch who can’t fall in love without getting her heart broken. He holds a grudge like no other.

Bookstore owner Rosie Mayfield wants a love of her own, but it’s not meant to be because of her family’s curse. To break it, she conjures a ghost who will break her curse, but for a cost she has to brew a potion to help him transition to the other side. The problem? There’s only one person who hates Rosie in all of Heartwood Hollow, and she needs his help to complete the required task.

Jack Haggerty, the ghost’s grandson, has lamented about Rosie for years she’s a disaster and she’s forbidden from visiting his gaming shop. He doesn’t believe in ghosts, so he’s stunned when his beloved grandfather makes an appearance. While he loves his family and will do anything to help his grandpa, he fights against the chemistry brewing between him and Rosie until he can’t anymore. But he doesn’t know how to tell her he no longer wants to go through with the plan, and she won’t admit that she’s falling for him because they’re doomed from the start.

What you get:
✨Grumpy gamer x Sunshine witch
✨Enemies to lovers
✨Magical quest to break a curse
✨A meddling cat
✨Small town romance
✨Gilmore Girls x Practical Magic vibes

Thank you so much @unionsqandco for sending me a copy of this book!!🫶🏼🫶🏼

The way this stack is screaming fall magic at me and may or may not be defying gravity 🍂📚🧡 And honestly this is what happens when you can’t resist every special edition that drops 🤣

This might just be my favorite photo of mine this season 🥰

I’m still in shock at how many “reddish goldish yellowish”books I actually own… but it turned out to be the perfect autumn palette don’t you think?!✨🍁

So yeah, fall decor is officially out, the candles are glowing on my shelves, and I feel more than ready for all the cozy autumn vibes.

And you know what… building these stacks is way more satisfying and stress relieving than I expected. I think I’m addicted. Can I put on my resume “professional book stack builder”? 🤣✨

💬 QOTD: Happy Friday! Tell me something bookish good that happened to you this week, anything big or small ✨

#bookstagram #bookish #bookstack #autumnreads #cozyvibes #fallbookstack #specialeditionbooks #bookcollector #bookphotography #fallbookstagram #cozyreads #witchyvibes #fallvibes A tall, slightly leaning stack of fantasy special edition books in red, gold, yellow, and black tones is styled on a table with autumn decorations. Around the base are knitted pumpkins in orange and cream, scattered artificial fall leaves, and golden confetti sparkles. On the right side are two black candles in gold holders, both lit, next to a witchy journal with celestial designs and a small bundle of dried herbs. Soft golden sunlight filters through sheer white curtains in the background, creating a dreamy warm glow across the scene. taken in BOOKSTA by @hushedlibrary

Yes, I’m here to tell you about The Emperor’s Enemy AGAIN 😂🫶🏼 And no, I’m still not over it. In fact, we just left for a road trip and I HAD to bring it with me. Do I care that I’ve already read it AND listened to the audiobook? Absolutely not. It’s coming with me!!

One of my absolute favorite books of the year, and if true enemies to lovers, female rage, sarcastic banter, touch her and 💀, and a painfully spicy slow burn sound like your thing… PLEASE read this one 🖤

Find my review in my other TEE pinned post!!

Thank you to @htpbooks for sending me a copy of the book. 🫶🏼

📖When the hunter is hunted… who becomes prey?

Welcome to the Unsurvivable Love Duet, the all-new series by Jasmine Mas, bestselling author of Blood of Hercules. The limited deluxe edition features beautifully designed sprayed edges, a foil-stamped case, and full-color character art endpapers—available while supplies last!

Zora Ravenal didn’t join the Crimson Army to be a hero. She joined to destroy the empire.

A skilled hunter hardened by loss with a concerning capacity for stubbornness, Zora claws her way into becoming a Knight Mage: the Commonwealth’s deadliest defense against the Empire’s storm magic and her people’s only hope.

It almost works.

Now she’s stuck in a war she can’t walk away from, hiding dangerous secrets, and shoved into very close quarters with the one man she should never be alone with.

He’s a Royal Mage with a body count, a temper, and an unsettling obsession… with her.

Now they’re partners.

Sort of.

If “partners” means being forced to train together, trust each other with their lives, and somehow not kill each other in the process.

But the Royal Mage isn’t just dangerous. He’s paying attention. And the longer they’re forced to remain in each other’s orbit, the more twisted everything becomes. Who’s hunting who?

What you get:

✨ True enemies to lovers
✨ Slow burn with tension and spice
✨ Forced proximity
✨ He’s in full prisoner chains & an electric collar
✨ She stabs him and he kinda likes it
✨ Touch her & d!e
✨ Talking pygmy owl 🦉
✨ A shocking twist you will NOT see coming

Thank you to @tlcbooktours, @spotify, and @authorgracereilly for the #gifted audiobook! 🫶🏼

In true Grace Reilly style, Have Your Cake was incredibly swoony, cute, funny, spicy, and just SO freaking good!! And it’s available NOW, exclusively on audio! 🎧🧡

📖 When ceramics artist Evie Bartlett walked away from her polished Southern life, she left behind a fiancé, a future she never wanted, and everyone else’s expectations. In the cozy beach town of Port Laurel, she’s finally built a life around her art, along with an unexpectedly close friendship with laid-back Logan Pierce.

But when Evie is forced to attend her ex-fiancé’s lavish wedding, a panicked lie to her meddling mother leaves her scrambling for an instant boyfriend. Now Logan is headed to Hilton Head as her fake date, where one small deception, one shared room, and undeniable chemistry force them to confront feelings they’ve both been hiding.

💭 You know I love a good audiobook, and this one was SO GOOD!! I absolutely loved Evie & Logan and the MUTUAL PINING!!! Both secretly obsessed (or not so secretly if you ask literally everyone around them 😂)

This had everything I want from a short friends to lovers, fake dating novella!! And I also really loved the childfree representation!!

And can we talk about the fact that it’s narrated in DUET(!!) by Monica King and Patrick DuBois?! Because YES PLEASE🎧

It’s also super short, so it’s such an easy one day listen! I had so much fun with this one and definitely recommend it if you love a good friends to lovers fake dating moment!! 🧡
