Very pleased to have contributed to the new XTC @recordcollectormag special! A full magazine of XTC! I spoke to the great Colin Moulding - and found him happy in his world - and wrote about the band’s final album Wasp Star. I had such a great time spinning records with @freakbeatbaby66 in London, first for the incredible @thelemontwigs show with @thestonesnyc at Shepherd’s Bush Empire (!!) and then at the ace @helenoftroysoho for @ultratwistlondon with four star DJs. 304 Holloway Road, where Joe Meek created some of the most distinctive and original pop records of the 1960s and where he shot dead his landlady Violet Shenton shortly before the end of his own life. It’s not much to look at but “Johnny Remember Me”, “Telstar”, “Have I the Right?”, “You’re Holding Me Down” and countless others were all created, Blue Peter-style, in the third floor flat. What was Shenton’s leather-goods shop is now a convenience store; apparently they get a lot of people in asking about Meek. by @huwareyou
