Would U like to have the plate ? 🐟✨🤌

A comforting lunch plate with bhetki fish and rice , that was so comforting that I can’t wait to have it again tomorrow . 👀😂

This bhetki macher jhol is light, hearty and full of ghar-er comfort. It's the kind of curry that tastes like someone who loves you made it. 🐟🍚

🛒 Ingredients (serves 3–4)

For the fish:
• Bhetki fish – 500 g (4–5 pieces)
• Salt – ½ tsp
• Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
• Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
• Mustard oil – for frying

For the paste:
• Cumin seeds – 1½ tsp
• Green chillies – 3–4
• Turmeric – ½ tsp
• A little water

For the jhol:
• Mustard oil – 2 tbsp
• Kalojeere (nigella seeds) – ½ tsp
• Slit green chillies – 2–3
• Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
• Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
• Salt – to taste
• Water – 1½ cups
• Chopped coriander – 2 tbsp

👩‍🍳 Method
1️⃣ Rub the fish with salt, turmeric and red chilli powder. Fry in hot mustard oil till lightly golden, then set aside.
2️⃣ Grind cumin, green chillies and turmeric with a little water into a smooth paste.
3️⃣ Heat mustard oil, temper with kalojeere and slit green chillies.
4️⃣ Add the paste and fry till the raw smell goes away.
5️⃣ Pour in water, add salt, turmeric and red chilli powder. Let it come to a bubble.
6️⃣ Gently slide in the fried fish and simmer for 5–7 minutes.
7️⃣ Finish with fresh coriander.

Serve hot with steaming rice, mix it with your hands, and let the day melt away. 💛

Is your Lakshmi Pujo bhog menu sorted yet, or are you still deciding what goes on the plate? 🪔💛

Here’s my bhog starter pack: soft, ghee-kissed bhoger khichuri, a sweet-tangy tomato–khejur chutney, and narkel naru to end it the sweet way. Simple, sattvik, and made with love, just like Ma’s.

Save this for Pujo day 📌

So, what’s on your menu this year? Tell me in the comments 👇 by @hyangla_bibi

Bijoya always meant sweets first, and then Mashi's crispy fish fry, without fail 💛

📌 Ingredients
✅ Fish fillets: 5–6
✅ Salt & pepper: as required
✅ Lime juice: 2 tbsp
✅ Onion: ¼ to ½
✅ Garlic: 6–7 cloves
✅ Ginger: 1 inch
✅ Mint & coriander: a handful
✅ Green chilli: 1–2
✅ Breadcrumbs: 2 cups
✅ Plain flour
✅ Eggs: 1–2

📌 Method
▶️ Pat the fillets dry. Add salt, freshly ground pepper and lime juice. Rest 10–15 mins.
▶️ Blend onion, ginger, garlic, coriander, mint and chilli into a paste. Marinate the fish for 30 mins to 1 hour.
▶️ Mix breadcrumbs with plain flour, salt and pepper. Whisk eggs with a little salt and pepper.
▶️ Coat the fish in flour, dip in egg, then breadcrumbs. Repeat egg and breadcrumbs for extra crunch.
▶️ Shape into neat rectangles with a knife and press the crumbs in well.
▶️ Refrigerate for 1 hour before frying.
▶️ Deep fry on medium heat until golden and crisp on both sides.

Serve hot with onion rings, lime and kasundi. No kasundi, no Bijoya! 🙌🔥

Send this to the cousin who always grabbed the bigger piece 😄
