PTI mf yeah it’s Ry mf
Only Abugan in the NY mf

Oh yeah my daughter too and she already rhyme
Taught her color in the page, but if you need to, cross the line

What up there pare, you that know I got it
Beats and green on the low I don’t advertise it,

Metal Gear Solid shh it’s that La Li Lu Le Lo
Don’t be afraid to spark it, ano nangyari?

New York State of Mind in the right place
Tryin’ to live life straight, NY flow, movin’ in a tight space

Y’all see me schemin’, think I’m quiet ’cause I’m shy, no
I let you breathe, have your moment, have your time, go

New base finishin’, I’ll be there in a minute man
Dare you to tell me what the limit is again

Oh what the feelin’ is, this just the beginnin’ and well
Not bad for some immigrants

Came in ’86 but my mind is on next week, stress-free
Come correct, ain’t no other place that gets me

I only rep these, Queens where the Mets be
Legitimately, 186 Street

No time for 6 7, workin’ 26/7, honestly,
Been present, givin’ my gift before the end credits

Like a Marvel scene, these toys claimin’ that they been legends,
They just plastic renditions

Red on top of the blue, but together it’s hot pursuit
Turn the corner in Woodside and they don’t got a clue

You ain’t seen us in September to body ya, well bada boom
Put the kick to ya hi-hat, now you gotta groove

Yet of course, Nueva Ecija to Nueva York,
Metaphors, ever since the ancestors hit the shores

Good plugs over good drugs, nah mean?

The late Filipino Folk and Rock icon Herber Bartolome gave his blessing to Deep Foundation to sample his song “Tayo’y Mga Pinoy,” which was used in their 2009 single, “Children of the Sun.” ☀️🇵🇭🎶

“I’m a F-I-L-I-P-I-N-O!” was yelled alongside Bartolome’s chorus as each verse was a collective exhale being caught in between the land we live and the land of our origin. 🗽🏝️

It’s just a reminder that people were speaking about this long before the memes and the TikTok’s. 🗣️🎙️

I’m honored to re-introduce this song on the finale of Filipino American History Month. Peep game Pamilya. 🇵🇭✌🏽🙏🏽

Thanks again to Heber Barolome, producer and music video director as well as emcee Hydroponikz, Ill Poetik, Ceejay, Mugshot, Proseed, Kiwi, Nomi of Power Struggle, and Koba for allowing me to share the creative legacy this song has provided.
