Today we received Navy’s official autism diagnosis.

So now our boy holds a “triple diagnosis” ;
Down syndrome, ADHD, and Autism.

That might sound like a lot to some people… but to us, it just means we understand him better.

It means we have more tools, more support, and more ways to help him thrive.

Navy is still the same incredible, funny, wild, loving little boy he was yesterday. Nothing about who he is has changed, we’ve just been given a clearer roadmap on how to support him.

We will keep learning, advocating, and showing up for him every single day.

And if you know Navy, you already know… he’s going to do things his own way & it’s going to be pretty amazing to watch 💙

When Navy first walked up to Sophia’s headstone today, he stared blankly for a moment before pointing to her and placing his finger on her picture. He then proceeded to say “sister” and only trace his finger along the letters S I S T E R 🥹 he helped us wipe down her stone and put her fall decorations up. I’m not sure he’ll ever quite understand never meeting his sister, or why his sister is in heaven, or why we visit her in a graveyard or why we sing to an empty chair on her birthday… but, he will always know she is looking down on him and his siblings and she will always be apart of our tribe. 🫶🏻 #phightinwithsophia #siblings #childhoodcancer #thisisus #navysarmy #downsyndrome by @i.am.navy_

Before bed, I asked Navy what he wanted to tell himself as he stood in front of the mirror:
“I’m smart.”
“I’m brave.”
“I’m strong.”
“& I’m grateful and brave.”

As we prepare to start this new journey, next week in Kindergarten, my biggest hope is that the world sees him the way he sees himself.

Kindergarten is full of new faces and big feelings. Some kids learn differently, some talk differently, some move differently, but every single child deserves kindness, friendship, and a chance to shine.

Teach your kids: not all kids are the same, but every kid is worthy. 💙
