Tough couple of months! Ask me sometime how to survive a natural disaster.

Making features is damn hard! So proud to have produced this life-affirming coming-of-age drama for Jay Silverman Productions.

Jay won Best Director from the Beverly Hills Film Festival (among other awards 💪)

AVL: The Register of Deeds will reopen for County business soon and volunteers will be directed to other entities. If you’re interested in volunteering please text me directly

As you may know the ROD has been a hub for volunteer efforts led by “Asheville first responders” Drew Reisinger, Erin Braasch, Paul Choi, Will Jernigan + Emily Kujawa. There is so much to say about what they’ve done and history will canonize them when their story is told.

I personally want to ensure that the momentum they’ve built doesn’t dissipate. As an Asheville local + a filmmaker I want to witness what will happen next.

Infinite Wow can help be a media resource at the very least. We’re in touch with a handful of local filmmakers who are volunteering + documenting the crisis. We’re still figuring out the best approach; SM is a powerful tool but it’s time intensive and not my expertise.

I think the next step forward may involve a coalition of community orgs working together laterally. One immediate volunteer opp is Hands On Asheville.

Maria and her team will continue to host daily comm meetings at Firestorm Books at 2 PM. I’ll be there today Monday 10/7 if you’d like to connect in person.

I’m so proud of us as a city, a county, a region, and a species. What I’ve seen at the ROD in the last 7 days has restored my core sense of optimism.

It’ll be painful but I have no doubt we’ll build an Asheville that will be even more beautiful than what came before.

Tanya is an artist, designer, activist & founder of AMBOS (Art Made Between Opposite Sides). She’s also the recipient of the 2024 Catalyst Award 👏
