So Boom,

This is the first time outside of her passing that I’ve ever shown my mom.
Still healing in real time and only know how to be honest..
I was in and out of homes and shelters my entire childhood in the difus system.
My grandmas love is why I’m alive.
She’d come find me and bring me back for a bit..
helped when she could but also never understood the dynamic of what was really going on between her daughter and i.
was called a waste of sperm countless times, I was beaten..
Then bath tubs filled with rubbing alcohol and hot sauce..
Locked in rooms so had to salvage every newspaper, school book, and steal from papi stores and put in my book bag before she locked me up..
Or I was going to eat sleep fr , many nights I did ..
Was Molested..
was just lost as a kid fr fr , trying to figure..
when becoming an adult , i stepped back more and more because i knew the love my grandmother has/had for my mom.
So never wanted to taint and tarnish her love for her so took the hits..
But the trauma ensued and ensues and i still battle it..
As I get older ?
My mom’s had her own traumas! And I question who was there for her outside of my grandmother?!
Who fought for her ?
Because how and what she did to me was completely unacceptable 🥺. And inhumane fr fr, so back in system I go.
So I was just the bad kid
The kid that ran away multiple times (running from mom)
Always after school with the social workers
Before mental health became a thing , you were just labeled crazy..
And that was me..
What’s wrong with him?
Oh look at the house he lives in?
lol..
I didn’t live there with my gma and mom.
I was a visitor .
And still had to go back and forth between homes and shelters .
Bc I never wanted to step in between my gmas love for her child..
But where was anyone for me ?
And how was I that wise as a kid fr?
But there’s no excuses in this world bro.
What the fugg are you gonna do about it ?
Love and protect our women!
That “Beatrice Collins” tat tho , love you grandma always .
I continue to strive to be the best human , man, and leader possible.

Good Morning famlay,
Reflecting in Central Park on a very emotional, sad yet beautiful day, left me with two very important thoughts of emphasis .

1. Rest in Peace to my beautiful big sister Robin “Odessa” Brown-Bennett who introduced me to the hospitality field and got me started.
Robin I love youuuuuuuu❤️
Condolences and love to my Kirkland/Brown/Bennett family.
12 years overdue 😭and I apologize sincerely for my part in being away from people that I truly do love.

2. Dear Black People, pleaseeeeeeeee hear me out.

It’s unfortunate that funerals always has to be what connects us. And we always “say”the correct things , and we all “say” “say” “say”. When do we put action ?
And I’m challenging my self as much as you .
God and Robin knew what they were doing in “my” life , because mannn!
this funeral was probably the onlyyyyyy way that I’d see long lost friends and family that I’ve missed,cherished,and love!
And because of what?
Hurt feelings that could’ve been communicated ?
Pride?
Ego?
Having to be right ?
12 years man , watching my nieces and nephews become adults and have children , sheesh🥹😭 literal adults .
But black people?
Let’s do better!
Let’s be better!
Pick up the phone , forgive , evolve..
Love yours man..
I was absent for 12 years that I can’t take back , but I thank God that it won’t be 13.
