IAAC awarded the first Bosch Aymerich International Scholarship (@fundacioboschaymerich) grants to Amanda Luisa Koivisto Nevado and Álvaro Mieres de Santiago. 🌍

85 applications. Two winners. Six months at MIT (@mit) Six months at IAAC Barcelona.

Both selected for their research proposals around the sustainable transformation of architecture and the relationship between territory, resources and productive systems.

The way we produce and consume food today is exceeding our planet's resources, affecting climate, drinking water, soils, biodiversity and nutrient cycles.

We’re happy to see Fab Lab Barcelona’s Master in Design for Emergent Futures (MDEF) selected by DesignWanted as one of 6 Master’s degrees shaping the future of innovation and sustainability.

At MDEF, students explore emerging futures through hands-on experimentation, digital fabrication, computational design, biomaterials, AI, regenerative design, situatedness, first-person perspective, embodied criticism and multiscalar perspectives.

A space to question, experiment and develop new forms of design at the intersection of technology, society and the living world.

A great recognition of the work of our students, faculty and the wider MDEF community.

There’s something we’re incredibly excited to share: We’re launching a new project on regenerative design and production, making knowledge open, adaptable, and designed to be built on by anyone, anywhere.

Design has shaped the world we live in, and also, helped create the crises we’re facing. Design has also been building systems built for speed, scale, and disposal, without asking what comes after. “Sustainable design” offered a correction. But reducing harm while accepting the same production logic isn’t regeneration… it’s slower damage. The field needs something more.

Regenerative Ecologies of Design and Production (RED&Pro) is a Horizon Europe project running one question through six countries, six pilot sites, with researchers, designers, makers, fablabs, policy-makers and communities: what if design gave back more than it takes?

We’re getting ready to test what we know, make what we learn open, and build the foundation for regenerative design and production to scale, from Europe, to the world.

Launching in November 2026.

Two years after the programme, Andrei runs his own practice.

He came to IAAC with no architecture background. No formal training. Just the drive to learn the tools that actually matter in the industry today – and in the years to come.

At the Master in Advanced Computational Design for Architecture, he didn’t just learn software. He learned how to think differently about design itself.

On 3 July, IAAC celebrated its Graduation Ceremony 2026 at L’Hivernacle – honouring more than 200 students from over 70 countries who have spent the past year making, prototyping and pushing the boundaries of architecture, design and urbanism.

Powerful speeches, shared emotions and the energy of a generation ready to build what comes next.

To all our graduates from the 2024–25 and 2025–26 programmes: this is not the end. You are now part of a global community of architects of change. 🌍

Forest Shepherd – Mobile Exhibition Prototype. 🌿

Students of IAAC’s Master in Ecological Architecture & Advanced Construction 2025–26 present their final project: a mobile exhibition structure built with recycled timber from the MWC 2026 pavilion and sheep wool, designed to house the IAAC 25th anniversary exhibition and the winners and finalists of the 11th Advanced Architecture Contest 2026.

A prototype that embodies what the programme stands for: building with what exists, designing for what comes next.

AI for ALL: Architecture & the Built Environment is an exhibition that sets out to demystify artificial intelligence and bring it within reach of everyone.

A project led by Areti Markopoulou (@aretimark) & Joaquin Rodríguez (@joaquinr86) and developed by students of IAAC’s Master in AI for Architecture and Business Innovation, in collaboration with the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (@uabbarcelona) and presented as part of Barcelona World Capital of Architecture 2026 – six interactive installations that translate generative systems, data-driven environments and algorithmic logic into spatial, hands-on experiences anyone can touch, navigate and question.

La respuesta es el Demo Day del AI for Architecture Acceleration Programme, que hemos impulsado junto a @iaacbcn (Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia).

💡 Equipos multidisciplinares compartieron proyectos que imaginan ciudades más sostenibles, inclusivas y humanas.

Ideas que han ido creciendo gracias a:
🧠 Acompañamiento de mentes expertas.
🤝 Mucho trabajo compartido.
🗣️ Feedback constructivo.
