Why does Treasures exist? 💎
From its conception, the mission of Treasures has remained the same; to empower women in the s*x industry and survivors of trafficking and exploitation to live healthy, flourishing lives. It’s also our goal to train others to do the same in their cities and communities.

How do we accomplish our mission?
🚶🏾‍♀️ Organize outreaches in places like strip clubs.
🩷 Provide practical support and care.
🫂 Help to sustain recovery with weekly support and recovery groups.
🗒️ Support self-efficiency by assisting in goal setting and creating an ongoing self-care plan.
🧑‍🏫 Empower and develop leaders to continue the work.

What makes Treasures unique?
Treasures is a survivor-led, trauma-informed, and supportive organization committed to meeting women where they are at. Our goal is not to judge, fix, or change anyone but to be a support on their journey towards healing and autonomy!

If you want to get involved and make a difference, there are a number of ways to do that!

💸 Donate to fund the program that directly supports the women we serve.
🚶🏾‍♀️ Start an outreach in your city.
🧑‍🏫 Get Trained to effectively reach and support women in your community.

We recently posted a blog that details the alarming rise in human trafficking globally, Treasures’ commitment to providing long-term support for survivors, The importance of holistic healing, personal stories of resilience and healing among survivors, and an invitation on how you can support the work of Treasures.

Here’s the truth:
It’s not just about being rejected by the TEDx platform.
It’s not about MY dream to be on that stage or the unfairness of being silenced...

We are going hard after sharing this video because I NEED to share a perspective that so often gets unheard.

There are a growing number of people who mistakenly believe that full-decriminalization will lead to a decrease in trafficking and exploitation and that it is the solution for increasing safety for prostituted people.

Support for this is also being fueled by “s*x worker” rights groups who, although they represent the minority of people in prostitution, tend to be the most vocal.

The exploited, trafficked, voiceless, marginalized and most vulnerable tend not to speak up as often or as loudly. Their voices are not being heard in this discussion and they need to be.

Keep spreading this idea that’s worth spreading.

A lot of times, leaving isn’t as simple as walking away. There can be so much happening behind the scenes.

Uncertainty about financial responsibilities, complicated relationships, fear of being judged, fear of retaliation, or simply not knowing where to begin.

When we don’t understand what someone may be navigating, it’s easy to underestimate just how much courage, support, and time this major change can take.

Every woman’s story is different. There is no single timeline, and no one should have to feel ashamed for where they are in their journey.

What matters is that every woman deserves to be met with dignity, compassion, and support in a way that honors her choices. She deserves the space to explore her options and the resources to decide what comes next for herself.

At Treasures, we believe no one should have to navigate these questions alone.

If you resonate with this experience, our founder, Harmony Dust, wrote a beautiful blog titled “For Anyone Thinking of Leaving the Sex Industry” that shares her own lived experience and tools & steps to support your journey of leaving and starting over.

Visit the link in our bio to read the blog today.

And as a friendly reminder, you can always reach out to our team for support; we’re here for you!

What we believe shapes how we show up.

At Treasures, our core values are more than words or statements. They shape how we build relationships, how we care for the women we serve, how we lead, and how we pursue our mission.

These five values are at the heart of our DNA as an organization:
💎 Story + Lived Experience
💎 Survivor-Led
💎 Trauma-Informed
💎 Authentic Community
💎 The One

Last week, we had the honor of hosting an online conversation about the changing landscape of sexual exploitation, the rise of digital exploitation, and how Treasures is continuing to evolve as we walk alongside the women we serve.

We were so encouraged to see how everyone came ready to listen, engage, and ask thoughtful, intentional questions.

Your questions sparked important conversations and even though the landscape may be changing, we are filled with hope because we are seeing more people become aware to the realities at hand and equipped to make a lasting impact.

Whether you’ve been part of the movement for a long time or you’re just getting introduced to these topics, we believe this is a conversation for everyone.

If you weren’t able to join us live, you can now watch the reply on Youtube!

Click the link below or in our bio to watch today!

Thank you to everyone who joined and helped make this such a thoughtful and meaningful time together.

At Treasures, we don't use the word “rescue” to describe our work with survivors.

Not because the desire to help is wrong or the heart behind it is inherently bad, but because the language we use matters.

“Rescue” can unintentionally paint us as the heroes, making the women we serve seem powerless or as though they need someone else to save them.

But survivors aren't projects.
They aren't problems to be solved.
They aren't waiting for someone else to rescue them.

Our work is about walking alongside women as they are empowered.

They are the heroes of their own story.

We provide support, resources, relationships, and opportunities that help women feel safe to heal and move toward the lives they want to build.

That means honoring autonomy.
Honoring choice.
Honoring dignity.

Our role is to create space for women to recognize the strength and agency that already exists within them, and to feel supported as they take courageous steps toward freedom.

We invite you to read a blog our founder, Harmony, wrote called “Trafficking & the Dangers of the Rescue Narrative” for a more in-depth look at this topic.

You never know what a simple act of kindness can blossom into.

What started with a stack of postcards and a heart to share the simple message that “You are loved, valued, purposed, and treasured” has grown into a community of hope, healing, and support for hundreds of women every single year.

Treasures wasn’t started from a grand plan, it began with one person willing to say “yes” and show up with compassion.

We’re so grateful for where this journey has taken us. For the incredible women we’ve had the honor of walking alongside, and all of the staff, volunteers, donors, and partners who have made it possible.

Together, we are making a difference!

Healing is unique for everyone.

Some find empowerment in sharing much of their story, while others need privacy to feel safe processing in their own timing.

And in different seasons, what we need can change.

Truthfully, we might not ever share certain parts of our story, and that is okay!

Now, this can be really tricky when living in community or investing in deep relationships, though.

When people ask us how we really are, we can often feel pressure to tell our whole story in order to be known or understood. Sometimes, choosing not to share can even leave us wondering if we’re being inauthentic or hiding something.

But there are seasons when holding something close isn’t about hiding. It’s about honoring where we are and giving ourselves space to process before/if we share.

There is a major difference between secrecy and privacy.

You can be honest about where you are without sharing every detail.

You are allowed to say:

“I’m going through something, but I’m not ready to talk about it.”
“There’s more to that story, but I’d rather not share the details.”
“I trust you, and I still want to keep this part of my life private.”

You can be deeply known without being completely exposed.

For those carrying experiences of trauma, exploitation, abuse, or other painful parts of their story, this can be especially important. Healing does not require an audience. You do not owe anyone your story simply because they ask, care about you, or believe your story could inspire someone else.

You get to decide what you share, who you share it with, and what remains yours.

Our founder, Harmony, wrote a stunning blog called “There is a difference between secrecy and privacy” that dives deeper into her journey with this topic.

We want to share a new resource designed to protect your digital privacy.

In today's digital landscape, sexual images can be shared without consent, reposted, leaked, manipulated with AI, or created as deepfakes. For survivors, finding and reporting that content can mean repeatedly searching for their own abuse and reactivating trauma.

That's why we want to share “Protect Privacy AI,” a new, survivor-informed, privacy-first technology designed to help you regain your privacy, choice, and control.

This technology can help:

🔍 Detect sexually explicit images that may have been shared without consent
🧼 Remove qualifying content through removal requests
🔼 Escalate when content isn’t removed
🕵️ Monitor for images that may reappear elsewhere

Most importantly, survivors don't have to know where the images are, explain what happened, or repeatedly search for their own abuse to begin seeking support.

Participants remain in control of what happens next, and Protect Privacy AI employees do not see users' intimate images.

And through the end of October, this service is FREE. ‼️

If you or someone you know may benefit from this resource, please forward this post to them.

Learn more about Protect Privacy AI by clicking the link in our bio. 🔗

*As part of the Beta Testing of Protect Privacy AI, Treasures will check in to see how your experience was.

One of the things that makes Treasures unique is that many of us on the team of staff and volunteers have been in the industry and understand its realities firsthand.

Just from the diversity in our team, we can testify that every woman’s story is unique.

We are able to hold the tension that there can be complicated and nuanced reasons why someone enters the industry, what makes them stay, or what gives them the courage to leave.

Wherever you are on this spectrum, we’re here for you.

Not to judge you.
Not to tell you who or what you should be.
Not to pretend we have all the answers.

But to walk alongside you and be a support as you make empowered decisions for your life.

With Treasures, you can count on these simple commitments:

💎 No Pressure: This is your journey at your pace.
💎 Confidentiality: Your privacy matters. We take it seriously.
💎 No Judgment: No matter where you are in your story, we welcome you just as you are.
💎 No Strings: Though we’re a faith-based organization, there are no faith requirements. Our mentoring and support groups are open to women from all walks of life, and we honor each person’s beliefs.

If you could use some support in this season, we’d love to chat with you and send you a free care package just as a little encouragement.

If that is something you’re interested in, click the link below or head to the link in our bio and click “Industry/Ex-Industry Girls.” 💌

When stories like the Cornell case dominate the news, a lot of us feel it in our bodies before we can even put it into words.

If you’ve been on edge, numb, exhausted, or can’t stop scrolling, you’re not alone. Your body remembers, and it’s trying to protect you.

Be gentle with yourself this week. Save this for when you need it, and share it with someone who might be struggling.

Looking for more support? Our free Nervous System Reset is linked in our bio. 🤍
