It’s the first of the month, so here’s an exciting first.

Cal Yacht Club held its very first Pickleball Classic Tournament. Pickleball Ho did a fantastic job putting it together.

And Life Lessons in Pickleball went to its first pickleball tournament.

I didn’t play. I got to hang with the players and pass out face wipes and mandarin oranges (it was HOT!), sign books, talk pickleball, and watch this community come together around something we all love.

Two firsts. One experience.

There are a lot of firsts when you publish your first book.

Here’s one: the first time anyone asked me to sign their copy of my book! 💛

I was playing Canasta when Jim surprised me with this one. I didn’t even know he’d bought a copy.

Bonus connection: Northwestern. He went to Kellogg for grad school.

A convenient day to reset.
But you don’t need a Monday to start again.

Dink the next point.
Especially when it’s coming at you fast.

Reset at any time.

It works. Slowing down the pace gives you the clarity to breath and begin again.

We play to have fun. And then promptly forget that. 💛

Jen and I have spent a lot of time together on and off the pickleball court, and she knows firsthand many of the stories behind Life Lessons in Pickleball. I’m so excited for our conversation tonight at @goodgirlbooks.

What’s one thing you’ve been telling yourself you’ll do… someday?

At a recent event, I invited people to complete one sentence:

It’s never too late to…

Some people kept their cards.
Others left them behind to inspire someone else.

Here are just a few of the responses from people of all ages and backgrounds:

• Re-learn piano
• Go to law school
• Get a cat
• Start something new
• Go surfing

Reading them reminded me that we’re all carrying hopes and dreams that deserve a little more attention.

So I’ll ask you the same question…
