Another successful Halloween in the books.

Shoutout to the multiple church harvest festivals we hit up and the houses with the big candy bars.

My three year old son made this photo with a point and shoot film camera.

Can’t wait to see more of how he sees the world.

Scenes of Fourth of July as seen from West Yellowstone, MT earlier this summer.

It was important to me to introduce our children to our National Parks and it felt like a great time to do it on America’s 250th birthday and what better to start with than Yellowstone, our first national park.

There’s a lot I don’t love about America, but I love our parks and want my children to love them too and see the value of them.

We got up early, not as early as the animals but earlier than the other visitors, and drove to Old Faithful. We pulled in and managed to get the closest spot to the geyser. My dad would later comment on how they parked further away but expected us ‘city folk’ to park close like we did.

As we got out of the van, the geyser was beginning to erupt. All the while, a mostly unbothered bison stood in front of it as if this was just another normal occurrence for it, which I’m sure it was. It seemed unphased by the descending droplets of scalding water or by us as curious onlookers positioned from the old boardwalk surrounding the area.

This moment felt unreal: very few people on that particular morning experienced this; my children were enamored with the scene; how was it that we of all people saw what feels like a rare scene (although it’s probably not)?

Haven’t done a photo walk with coworkers in a long time, but today was so fun. Reminded me of all the things about doing them that I have loved over the years, starting way back when during @vsco days.

Thanks @zach_mckinley_ for hosting it and bringing everyone together and thanks @marco.arjona for being willing to let me use your shadow. by @iamcartermoore

Outside of West Yellowstone this summer at Henry’s Lake State Park in Idaho. A massive storm started to roll in, but thankfully mostly at a distance. This family must have also thought it was remarkable as they all looked at it. by @iamcartermoore

There have been very few times and places in my life where it feels like I’m sitting in the collision of heaven and earth, but this place, this summer, with my family around me, was one of those moments.

Slowly going through film scans from our 2500 mile family road trip across Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Washington, and Oregon.

So thankful our kids will get to grow up seeing the west and hopefully with an instilled love of these beautiful places.
