People think Financial Wellness starts with investing. I DON’T!!!

One of the biggest reasons people struggle financially isn’t because they don’t know about investing. It’s because they don’t have a system for the money they already earn.

Before worrying about growing wealth, ask yourself:
1. Do I have a spending plan that I follow?
2. Do I have a savings strategy?
3. Do I have a debt payoff plan?
4. Do I have a system for my bills and cash flow?

The goal ISN’T to earn more money just to keep repeating the same cycle.

The goal is to understand where your money is going, make intentional decisions with it, and create habits that leave you with something to show for your hard work.

That’s the kind of Financial Wellness I teach! 💪🏾❤️

Most people don’t need more financial information.

They need a financial plan they can actually stick to.

There isn’t a shortage of budgeting tips, debt payoff advice, or videos about saving money. The CHALLENGE is that financial knowledge doesn’t automatically convert over to healthy financial behaviors.

That’s where financial coaching is different.

Whether your goal is paying off debt, becoming more organized with your income, improving your spending habits, or creating long term financial stability, ACCOUNTABILITY often becomes the missing piece.

Financial progress rarely happens because you found one more money tip. It happens because you built a money system that helps you make better financial decisions CONSISTENTLY.

Making more money isn’t always the answer.

For many people, the missing piece isn’t income. It’s FINANCIAL ORGANIZATION.

You can earn a good salary, pay your bills on time, and still feel like you’re rebuilding your finances every single month.

A strong money system helps you manage cash flow, build savings consistently, prepare for unexpected expenses, payoff debt with intention, and make finance decisions with confidence instead of reacting to whatever happens next.

What’s one area of your finances that feels the most unorganized right now?

The most expensive purchases don’t always FEEL impulsive.

Sometimes you’ve given yourself 7 very reasonable reasons why you “need” it. 😭

And that’s what makes purchase justification so sneaky.
You’re not standing in the store thinking, “I’m about to make a bad financial decision.”

You’re thinking...
I’ve had this long enough.
I work hard.
It’s on sale.
I can afford the payment.
I was going to replace it eventually anyway.

And every one of those statements might be true.

But there’s another question worth asking:
Does buying this NOW compete with something financially important that I’m still trying to build?

Because being able to make the purchase and being financially ready for the purchase are not always the same thing.

Sometimes the financially mature decision isn’t “I can’t afford it.”…. It’s “I can...but not yet.”

What purchase are you REALLY good at talking yourself into? 😂

I’ve received a good amount of messages asking me to drop an episode about How to Save On A Lower Income.

…AND I DID!!!!

And from the comments that I’m still receiving, just know you’re not overlooked or forgotten about 😉😘.

Sometimes the 20% rule is challenging for you to apply to your income, but it was important for me to teach and remind you, that you STILL have something to work with and I break those principles down in my recent episode JUST FOR YOU!❤️💰

Tune in NOW on YouTube & SHARE it with someone you know, because just because you’re on a fixed income doesn’t mean you can’t build with what you have!

When you’re living on a lower income, being told to “just save 20% of your paycheck” can feel completely disconnected from your reality.

Because when your income is already stretched between bills, groceries, transportation, and other necessities, sometimes there genuinely isn’t much left.

And I think that’s where a lot of financial advice misses the mark. It tells people WHAT to do without considering what they’re actually working with.

Listen, your starting point may look different, but that doesn’t mean you can’t begin building toward financial stability.

You may have to start smaller. You may have to move slower. And you may need a savings strategy that looks nothing like somebody else’s. That’s okay. The goal is to make progress with the resources you have, not measure yourself against resources you don’t.

In my latest YouTube episode, “How to Save on a Low Income,” I’m teaching practical ways to begin saving money on a limited income without pretending you have extra money lying around.

You finally get $1,000 saved.
Then somehow you’re back at $300.
So you build it again.

And a few months later...you’re pulling from it AGAIN.
At some point, the question may not be “Why can’t I save money?”

It may be:
Why does EVERYTHING have access to my savings?

The car needs tires.
You want to upgrade something in the house.
A trip comes up.
There’s a good sale.
You spend more than expected one month and tell yourself you’ll replace it next payday.

None of those decisions may feel financially reckless by themselves.

But collectively, they can keep you in a cycle of constantly rebuilding money you already worked hard to save.

Your emergency fund needs boundaries just like the rest of your money does.

Because if every unexpected, inconvenient, exciting, or expensive moment qualifies for your savings...eventually everything becomes an “emergency.”

What expense keeps finding its way into YOUR savings account?

Authenticity OVER Approval any day!!!…

Some people won’t get you.
Some people may even prefer the version of you that was easier for them.

And that’s okay!…. Authenticity pays more dividends in the end!! ❤️

At some point, learning can become another form of procrastination.

You save the budgeting tips.
You screenshot the money advice.
You watch another video about financial discipline.
You download another savings challenge.
You tell yourself, “I’m going to start doing this.”

But nothing actually changes.

Because financial discipline isn’t built by how much information you collect… it’s built by what you consistently practice.

Sometimes you don’t need another money tip.

You need to take ONE thing you already know and do it long enough for it to become part of how you manage money.

So before you save another financial post, ask yourself:
What do I already KNOW about my money that I still haven’t put into practice? by @iamcoachcd

A mortgage pre-approval can quietly become a spending target if you’re not careful.

You may have started your home search thinking:
“I’d be comfortable spending around $325,000.”

Then you’re pre-approved for $450,000.
Now you start looking at $400,000 homes.
Then $425,000.

And suddenly a $440,000 house doesn’t feel expensive.
It feels like you’re buying under budget.

But whose budget?… Because the lender’s maximum and your comfortable home-buying budget are two completely different numbers.

A lender can evaluate your income, debt, credit and other financial information.

But that pre-approval doesn’t know every priority competing for your paycheck.
- How much you want to save every month.
- How aggressively you want to invest for retirement.
- How much financial breathing room helps you sleep at night.
- The lifestyle you want outside of your house.
- Or the financial goals you still want to accomplish after you get the keys.

So BEFORE getting emotionally attached to houses at the top of your mortgage pre-approval, determine your own number.

What monthly housing cost can my actual financial life comfortably carry while still leaving room for the future I’m trying to build?

Start there…Then let THAT number determine which houses you look at.

Not simply the largest mortgage someone is willing to approve.

🏠 Save this before you start house hunting and send it to someone who’s preparing to buy.

If you were pre-approved for $450K but knew $325K fit your life better, would you have the discipline to shop at $325K? 👇🏽

Getting out of debt required me to change how I spent money AND Staying out of debt required me to pay attention to the habits that could quietly take me BACK.

Here are 8 spending habits I had to break to stay debt-free...

1️⃣ Saying yes to invitations before calculating what attending would actually cost me.
The invitation may be free. Getting there, staying there, eating there, buying the gift and everything else may not be.

2️⃣Taking money from one financial goal to pay for another.
I had to stop telling myself, “I’ll just replace it next month.”

3️⃣Saying yes when someone needed money before checking what helping them would do to MY finances.
I can care about someone without making every financial emergency mine.

4️⃣Spending my raise, bonus, or unexpected refund as soon as I received it.
I learned to let that money sit before deciding what it was for.

5️⃣Buying groceries I already had because I didn’t check my refrigerator or pantry first.
Two minutes checking what I already have keeps me from paying for the same thing twice.

6️⃣Shopping because I was stressed, bored, disappointed, or just wanted to feel better.
I had to stop giving every emotion a financial response.

7️⃣Buying something today because I knew I was getting paid Friday.
Payday coming didn’t mean the money was already available.

8️⃣Buying lunch every workday instead of packing something from home.
I started packing my lunch and made eating out the exception instead of the routine.

9️⃣BONUS: Continuing the same spending routine without checking whether it was actually working.
That’s why I started having Money Dates with myself. I needed to see whether the financial habits I put in place were actually helping me.

Becoming debt-free was one goal BUT Learning how to LIVE in a way that helped me stay there was another.

Which one did you read and immediately think, “Yep...I do that”? 👀

Car maintenance is going to happen.

Home maintenance is going to happen.

And if your immediate family lives in another state, an emergency may eventually require you to travel with very little notice.

You may not know WHEN these expenses will happen, but you already know they’re possible. That means you can start preparing for them now.

Because every time you use your emergency savings for tires, annual home maintenance, or a last-minute flight, you’re pulling money away from one of its most important jobs:
‼️ Protecting you when your income is interrupted.

This is why I don’t believe in making one savings account responsible for everything.
Give your money specific jobs and create homes for them.
💰Car Maintenance Fund
💰Home Maintenance Fund.
💰Emergency Travel Fund, if your family lives far away.

Then let your emergency fund continue building instead of constantly having to start over.

🚨 SHARE this with your MONEY FRIEND because we’re NOT letting every expense send us back to zero!
