Hey girl, Hey!

I’m so proud of you!

I’m proud of the life you brought into this world in the form of your 3 ADR’s.

I’m proud of the visions you gave birthed to and nurtured that employed 100’s

I’m proud of dreams you watered and businesses launched all with purpose beyond self.

I’m proud of the challenges you faced while never obsessing over the pursuit of perfection.

I’m proud of being comfortable blazing new trails even when it isn’t popular.

I’m proud of the times this year that you walked away when your intuition told you that your assignment was complete.

I’m proud of the integrity you embodied when another choice seemed more convenient.

I’m proud that love led the way no matter what. Love for God! Love for His people, Love for your family, Love for your husband, and Love for yourself.

I’m proud that you like the person you see in the mirror everyday. You are finally able to see beyond the surface and appreciate the substance of the woman she has become.

Today, I celebrate the birth of the girl who fought hard to stand tall and say, “I love the life I have and the best is still yet to come.”

Congratulations, Angie/Angela/Ang/Dr. Reddix/Dr. Angela/Mama Ang/Ma/Mommy/Mother/Aunt Angela, you made the last 365 days count!

When Purpose meets Passion 💜💛

I haven’t driven alone from Norfolk to Harrisonburg, Virginia since my Senior year! Yes, a million years ago.

I started the trip dreading the drive, and then I hit the mountains, saw the beautiful sunset, and my focus moved from counting down the miles to gratitude.

Gratitude for the opportunity to have a voice at the table of the university that I love. 💜
Gratitude to work with a university President with an entrepreneurial and BOLD mindset.💛
Gratitude to serve with some incredibly SMART and accomplished professionals who are also fun.💜
Gratitude to serve with my classmate and 💕💚 DrLisa Winn Bryan💛
Gratitude that after my days of service, I get to sneak in a few hours with my sweet Ayla.💜💛💕💚

My first JMU Board of Visitors meeting was jammed packed with information. The committee meetings and opportunities to engage with current students were a bonus I didn’t expect. Dinner at the President’s house and learning more about the Board in a relaxed setting was indeed a treat.

After a full day of meetings, Ayla appearing at my hotel with an overnight bag for a surprise slumber party literally took my breath away.

It’s funny, my ride home felt like time passed so quickly. My heart was full. I returned home inspired and on fire!

I continue to be in total awe of God’s masterful plan for my life. The opportunity to live out my purpose for the university where I have such passion and spend quality time with my babygirl😭😭
I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR ALIGNMENT 💜💛

The Commodores song described the vibe of the RR Fund Wealth & Wellness Retrea🧡Couples Edition perfectly. 4 days surrounded by dreamers who were just happy people sharing sweet, sweet love!
I’m still floating!
Backstory…
6 years ago, I had a crazy idea to bring 100 women of color together to build a $1 million fund. To grow that fund by investing in the market, real estate, and angel invest in women of color businesses. And 3 weeks later, the RR Fund was born. the Fund has grown into 2 funds totaling close to $5M in investments. There have been gains and lessons. There have been moments of joy and skillful navigations of conflict as we faced high stake business decisions. Just like the boardroom! I am just so proud of us and the women who continue to show us for themselves and each other!
Each year these ladies come together for our annual RR Fund Retreat. Ohhh it’s been such a special time. We’ve gathered in West Palm Beach, Florida, Scottsdale, Arizona, Costa Rica, Las Vegas, and coming Jan ‘27 Spain🙌🏽.
We focus 3 full days on Wealth, Health, and Fun. With 1 rule… No men allowed!😱
Well, the women wanted to share the incredibly rich information with their husbands, so I gave in. I believe in giving the people what they want…give the people what they need.🤣.
The compromise, we wouldn’t change our main retreat, but we would offer a second one.
So we tested the water with 16 couples in West Palm Beach , Florida. And my goodness one word “PERFECTION”.
The sharing! The knowledge! The immediate application of the information!
I’m so grateful to be open to the voices of those I serve. I absolutely enjoyed curating every part of this experience to increase the future values of our household enterprises. We are preparing well beyond our next generations and it is absolutely imperative to have our men at the table.

Well our girl is off to her 3rd year at JMU. This time we moved her into her first apartment and she drove her Jeep😱

While all of that is a change and I love having Ayla here, I am so good with it. Oh what a difference 2 years makes!

We transitioned back to empty nesting with the quickness and had a date night on a school night🤣

The guys surprised us with @masego concert tickets and let me tell you that show was incredible.

The opening act was @lekan.official and his range was amazing!

Masego must have played 5 different instruments, vocals 🔥 and was so engaging.And he is from the 757!

They probably have 10 more stops on their tour and I strongly recommend you check it out.

So to all of those mamas dropping off your babies to college for the first time or emptying your nest for the first time, it gets easier!

(Part 2) More than a vacation, but an awakening.

After 2 days of being R4, Big Papa Show Stopper (name that tune) arrived on the scene.

We had figured out the lay of the land so Pete jumped right in and we enjoyed lunch before spending a few hours relaxing on South Beach.

Such a day of peace and tranquility listening to the waves, reading our books, and listening to smooth jazz. Take me back!

We changed clothes and took a leisurely stroll to dinner.

But that night was one of my favorite moments of the entire vacation. We relaxed on the patio at the house. Well, I was in relaxation mode, but the kids were in turn up mode. Oh they were spilling all kind of tea and I was just trying to not react. But I was here for every drop.

That turned into a dance party until they left us in silence to hit the streets to find the parties.

Pete and I just looked at each other in shock before bursting out in laughter. All we could say is “wow, at least our kids like to share with us.”

The awakening for me was realizing just how much I enjoy the personalities of these 3 humans. They are fun people with good hearts. The banter between them is hilarious. And seeing Anyssa sit on Ahmon’s lap was the sweetest.

I’m watching how affectionate they are and I am proud that Pete & I always displayed affection in our home, on the street, in the car, and everywhere else. 🤣🤣

I love that they are emotionally available humans. Open to giving & receiving love.

Not just a vacation, but an awakening (Part 1)
****
It has become increasingly rare to have all of my adult babies in the same place at the same time, which made our annual summer family vacation even more special this year.

While Mr. Reddix was off hopping at the Omega Conclave, I was able to kickoff our vacation with the kids. Just a mom & her 3 babies , and it was an absolute treat.

I love watching their interaction with one another. I loved seeing them step up and lead the effort of grocery shopping and organizing the house.

This particular vacation wasn’t about packing our schedule, but simply being together and sharing deeply.

When I tell you motherhood has been a rollercoaster ride! Whew! So many uncertainties, so many days of joy, and so many nights of doubts and fears.

These first few days..the days when it was just me & my babies, the world stopped and I could simply “be”. I admired their growth. I appreciated their thought process. I experienced the wonder of their bond.
I immersed myself in their love.

Most of all I exhaled and was simply grateful to be Mommy to my 3 ADRs.

THE LEGACY ALLIANCE.
This is one of the founding moments of the Museum of Black Women Innovators and an opportunity for men to make history while honoring legacy.

Led by founding member Bishop Courtney B. McBath, The Legacy Alliance is bringing together men who believe the stories, achievements, and innovation of Black women deserve to be known, honored and preserved.

And we’re beginning with a challenge:

350 MEN. 35 DAYS.

350 men willing to stand together and become part of the founding story of the Museum of Black Women Innovators.

Not to speak for Black women.

Their work already speaks.

But to stand for the stories that history too often failed to preserve.

Bishop McBath is standing.

Now he’s asking other men to stand beside him.

Every year I celebrate your birthday with a theme song and this year’s song is from the late great Whitney Houston. My Love is Your Love.

The chorus states
“‘Cause your love is my love
And my love is your love
It would take an eternity to break us
And the chains of Amistad couldn’t hold us”

Over these almost 35 years, life has come our way fast and furious and NOTHING has broken us.

On this birthday, I honor what you & I have created and nurtured together.💕💚

I often say that I really must be God’s favorite girl. Like He has provided my every need.

He knew that I would not be complete without you.

A sho’nuff truth teller who tells me what I need to hear with type of realness that only a sister will be bold enough to say.

A for real encourager who calls in the middle of the day to tell me when I hit it out the park. On the big and small things in life.

A prayer warrior who has spent many days and nights praying over dreams and losses. Who knows how to calm my fears and breathes energy into opportunities.

A marriage cheerleader who sings my husband’s praises and reminds me of the big picture.

A comedian who sprinkles laughter in every conversation and brings absolute joy NO Matter what comes our way.

As if that wasn’t enough. I know that God knew I needed a partner in parenting. A sister who would understand the challenge of motherhood when you have been called into demanding careers. A sister who understands that our marriage, our family, and our careers….well that is where we will have our greatest impact. And how we model healthy relationships is the legacy we leave to our girls.

Monica, when I see the bond our girls have with each other and us, I realize that we have honored God. He has answered every one of our prayers.

Happy Birthday to my special gift from God. Your life and unconditional love have been the gift that continues to give. That love is not only a gift to me, but to my entire family.

I love US and all that We have nurtured TOGETHER.😘😘😘

The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated 72nd Boule was indeed an experience that I will never forget.💕💚

1. The professionalism, patience, and positive attitude of the 100’s of volunteers was beyond impressive. These sisters really exuded love for our sorority.

2. I loved hearing about the impact our beloved sorority has made internationally. To the point of being added to the Guinness book of world records.

3. It was so wonderful connecting/reconnecting with sisters and being intentional to meetup if only for an hour or two. I didn’t get to see everyone I planned to see, but I’m grateful that I was able to connect with a few.

4. Spending time learning more about my chapter members was priceless! So many memorable moments created.

5. Monica and I have had the most challenging schedules this year and it’s been more difficult to schedule our annual girl’s trip. It was an extra treat to share time together in Las Vegas.

6. The highlight for me was sharing this experience with my legacy, Ayla. I will forever treasure our pillow talk before my eyes closed at night, the download of our day over dinner, and our adventures of navigating our way through the sea of 25,000 pink and green sisters and 5,000 scooters🤣

While American Airlines lost my luggage with all of my clothes before my adventure could begin😡, I’m so grateful that the beautiful memories created far outweighed the inconvenience of the lost bags.

Praise God for the bomb vendors!

Ps. Every girl needs a good, good girlfriend who gives her the space to have a pity party for 6 minutes and then demands that she pulls it together, get to the store for some essentials, and keep it moving. taken in Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino by @iamdrangreddix
