I’m so honored and humbled by the turnout at the opening of ‘Territories’ last week. From interior designers I’ve worked with for over a decade, to collectors who flew in from California and even Paris, to grad school friends and longtime collaborators, so many friendly faces came to share their excitement for the new work, and it meant the world to me. Thank you all, I’m truly touched.

If you missed opening night, the show will be up at @cristinagrajalesgallery through February 12, with select pieces going to Salon Art + Design @thesalonny and Design Miami @designmiami later this year. Can’t wait!

In his latest exhibition, Territories, at Cristina Grajales Gallery, artist and designer Fernando Mastrangelo transforms landscapes into sculptural furniture using sand, crushed glass, and rare earth oxides. Through layered topographies and intricate textures, the works explore the relationship between land, identity, and ownership, revealing how the natural world can become a site of both beauty and conflict. The result is a compelling body of work that pairs striking material experimentation with a deeper meditation on the forces that shape our understanding of place. by @iamfm

Fernando Mastrangelo’s solo exhibition is a mastery of his signature casting techniques, using hand-dyed sand & powdered glass to create works that evoke both the beauty and tension of geopolitical landscapes. taken in Cristina Grajales gallery by @iamfm

@nymag has deemed the landscapes of Fernando Mastrangelo’s Territories exhibition at Cristina Grajales Gallery both ‘highbrow’ and ‘brilliant’ in its Approval Matrix.

After seven years of rethinking his artistic practice in his Hudson Valley studio, Fernando will display his solo exhibition, Territories, exploring migration, borders, identity, and how political and cultural forces shape our understanding of land.

Territories will be on view from October 8, at Cristina Grajales Gallery (50 Vestry Street, Tribeca, NYC). by @iamfm

This clip is the heart of the show for me 🤎

For a while there, the commercial success of my studio kept taking me further and further away from the making. I was running the business, and the hands-on part got smaller and smaller. With Territories, every grain of sand and every piece of glass has passed through my hands, and it feels like coming home.

Cristina has supported this homecoming with such grace and trust. She has watched me work on these pieces for a year now, struggling with a few, changing others, allowing yet others to change me, all the while knowing it would be worth it. Hearing what she said in this conversation meant more than I can put into a caption.

I hope you all enjoy the episode, and enjoy the new work 🙏🏼

Territories opens Thursday, October 8 (6-8PM) at @cristinagrajalesgallery , 50 Vestry Street in Tribeca. All are welcome, and we’d love to see you there! by @iamfm

B R I N T Z + C O U N T Y is pleased to announce the representation of Fernando Mastrangelo.

Born in the United States in 1978, Mastrangelo lives and works in Hudson, New York. Working with unconventional materials, including hand-dyed sand and crushed glass, he creates sculptural works that evoke geological formations and shifting landscapes. His practice extends to collaborations with Dior, Fendi, Stella McCartney, and Audemars Piguet. Notable projects include the Audemars Piguet Collectors Lounge for Art Basel and the Tiny House installation in Times Square.

His work has been presented at Art Basel, Design Miami, Zona Moca, NADA, and The Armory Show, among others, and featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Architectural Digest, Artforum, and Vogue.

We look forward to sharing new works by Mastrangelo, including an upcoming presentation at Untitled Art, Miami Beach.

Fernando Mastrangelo’s practice is rooted in a profound belief in the hand as both maker and storyteller. Through an extraordinarily labor-intensive process, he transforms sand and other elemental materials into landscapes that hold the tensions of place, memory, beauty, and belonging.

His work embodies the dialogue between material and meaning that has long been central to our program: a commitment to artists whose mastery is not an end in itself, but a means of expanding what materials, the hand, and the heart can express.

We’re honored to embark on this new adventure with Fernando. Welcome to the family.
