Hands up if you’re loving the Metro Tunnel?

MOVE MORE.

This was our answer to a brief from Metro Trains Melbourne to create an internal campaign that would help its people celebrate the opening of the Metro Tunnel and the five new stations they had worked so hard to help bring to life.

We saw an opportunity to express what this milestone would make possible and recognise the collective effort of the people behind it.

MOVE MORE works on two levels: five new stations, more services and better connections across Melbourne. And internally, more collaboration, more pride and a shared sense of what Metro’s people had achieved together.

We developed MOVE MORE into a flexible internal campaign system spanning event materials, merchandise, banners, the intranet, and more.

It was one of those ideas that clicked almost immediately.

MOVE MORE gave Metro’s people something to recognise, share and rally behind as they marked a milestone years in the making.

We’re proud to support the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA).

At a time where meaning matters more than ever, at HM, we’ve made a conscious decision to direct our energy towards organisations shaping culture, challenging thinking, and contributing to something larger than themselves.

ACCA’s Annual Report gave us the opportunity to bring a strategic lens, creativity and care to how its work was communicated.

Contemporary art challenges how we see and think. It asks us to engage critically and imaginatively with the world around us not just to understand the issues shaping our world, but to feel their impact.

It has never felt more important to contribute our skills to organisations doing this work. Supporting ACCA reflects that commitment.

"As a not-for-profit with a small team, HM's support has made a meaningful impact for ACCA. It was a pleasure to work with Nancy and Miguel. They took time to understand ACCA's purpose and vision and brought a strategic lens, creativity and collaborative spirit to the design process of our Annual Report.”
– Laura De Neefe, ACCA Executive Director

While delivered through HM, this support forms part of a broader commitment across HM Group to the arts, including Fluoro, our independent cultural platform focused on storytelling within contemporary creative communities.

We’ve been thinking a lot lately about mindset, about the difference between simply thinking positively and thinking powerfully.

One idea we keep coming back to is Napoleon Hill’s Master Mind principle in The Law of Success (1928).

The idea is simple: no single person holds all the knowledge, experience or abilities needed to achieve something significant.

When two or more people work together harmoniously toward a clear shared purpose, their combined thinking produces something greater than any of them could have created alone. Hill described it almost as a “third mind” emerging between them.

We absolutely believe this is how the best work happens.

In HM terms, our work has always grown through the exchange between strategic and creative thinking. One thought sparks another. An idea is questioned, strengthened and made visible. Refined until something emerges that neither perspective could have reached alone.

The best exchanges test the thinking. But they only work while the idea remains open enough to be improved.

Our “I am Listening” principle makes room for what others know, hearing what sits beneath the initial brief and allowing the answer to change as the thinking develops.

Listening is how a Master Mind begins.

The same applies here. A post can be a broadcast, or it can make room for an exchange.

This brings us to a question we’ve also been thinking about: what would happen if we stopped posting for a while?

Perhaps the answer isn’t to stop posting. It’s to treat a post as the beginning of a conversation, rather than the end of a thought.

Let’s keep talking! Coffee?

How could it be business as usual?

HM turns 30 this week.

There is so much to celebrate, but to speak only about our own success, without acknowledging the wider world, would not feel true to us.

Reaching 30 years also gives us reason to reflect honestly on what it has taken to continue: the wins, the losses, the resistance, the difficult years and the moments that required more optimism than evidence.

And still, what an extraordinary privilege HM has been for us.

It has given us work, purpose, relationships, freedom, a home for our ideas and a way to support our family and many others.

And with that comes responsibility. We do not see ourselves as the owners of those achievements, but as responsible for what they make possible.

For us, that means bringing the same care to the ideas we shape, the stories we tell and the work we put into the world.
