Truly a joy last Friday to play music again at @wearemlc_ - felt better than I have in years and God I've needed to be back on stage so badly. Moving to a new country and people I meet not knowing me as a musician first, person second has made me feel very strange and so this was a good first step in correcting that!

Music ready to be released and writing away a new album focused on the little terror in the second photo

Lots of love x by @iamjjdraper

Don’t miss the captivating and emotive live performances by JJ Draper on Thursday May 15th and Friday May 16th! Often compared to the likes of Sufjian Stevens, Bon Ives, and Big Thief, JJ’s sound simultaneously exists on the fringes of pastoral folk and experimental rock.

This event is unticketed so walk in and join us!

Of Precisely Nothing OUT NOW (Link in my Bio)

Thank you to @ianarchiebeck for this beautiful painting, @laurencebeckdesign for his work on it and as ever to my band @bobekonbass @lorenzocalvoxv @woeyjalker who played/made the record with me. This is the 3rd song from my upcoming album Present Tense and one we’ve played at gigs for loooooong time. Loads more soon.

My mistakes - made them so honestly
Made them like, honestly, I never thought I’d hurt you but I almost did, I almost did
Wade in a lake, broken like promises
Broken like - promise me, you’ll never self destruct just like you almost did, you almost did…

And you said,
Apropos of precisely nothing,
You were always the last to know when I was proud of something
And that hurt

I can’t wait,
Street lights are furnaces
I’m bleeding like, come to me, I never thought I’d call you but I almost did, I almost did…
Don’t delay,
Street lights are furnaces
I’m bleeding like, come to me, I never thought I’d love you but I almost did, yeah I almost did…

And you said,
Apro pos of precisely nothing,
You were always the last to know when I was proud of something
And that hurt
And you said,
Apropos of precisely nothing,
You were always the last to know when I was proud of something
And that hurt

Grandma OUT NOW

She wasn't really making sense
Fleeting as the present tense with a lost light in her eyes
And I remember asking dad
"Can I have some of the morphine patch?" (...that the nurse liked to deny)

Cos I remember the sound of you dying in the night
Yeah I'll remember the sound of you flying past life

So, father-brother - run and hide!
Tell me - are you satisfied with a loaned life and a lie?
Help me make some sense of it
If only one of us was full of shit, get it right... right...yeah, right!

Cos I remember the sound of you dying in the night
Yeah I'll remember the sound of you flying past life
Cos I remember the sound of you dying in the night
Yeah I'll remember the sound of you flying past life...
Past life...
Past life...
Past life...
Past life...
Past life...

Grandma is out this Friday, accompanied by another beautiful artwork by @ianarchiebeck you will see then.

This is a song you may well have heard live the last few years, a song that has sometimes moved people to tears and sometimes made people gasp at how brutal and seemingly insensitive it is, so - I’m looking forward to seeing how it hits you. Whatever you feel, I’m proud of it as a chronicle of a decade ago and a strange experience. I also played my first guitar solo on it 😱

Madrigal is OUT NOW - go stream, save and share wherever you do your listening.

Writing this track with Jessie reminded me how much I love collaborating and working on music with someone else’s voice in mind, I love this song. Props @jessiereidmusic and @woeyjalker bringing this to life

Behold! And wonder at this masterpiece by @ianarchiebeck - and if you’re so inclined listen to the song too because Oh, Brother! is OUT NOW on all platforms!

Thank you to @woeyjalker @ryprecordings for slaving over these records with me, to @metropolismastering and special thanks to @sphygmus for the beautiful string arrangements (many more of these in tracks to come…)

I hope you love this little song and it means the world if you can share it far and wide. It’s a gentle introduction to what’s in store, but a song that means a great deal to me.

Thanks to @kasia.ziminska @phoebesnelling for their wonderful playing too

Pleased to announce @hereisampersand and @pocketjamofficial will be joining us for our headline show @camdenassembly on October 2nd. All the more reason to get your tickets at the link in my bio and prepare yourself for a real reunion of live music and revelry.

I’m assured by @st_closeup @closeuppromo that these guys are local talent bringing some serious heat to the night, spunky ne’er-do-wells intent on bringing down the government and opening your minds to a whole new world of pain (okay, maybe I embellished that last bit)
