Today, I get to share a song that means more to me than I can put into words.🌻

It’s a strange how you can miss someone you’ve never known, but over the years I’ve gotten to know Lacey through the people who love her. Through stories told around dinner tables. Through memories that still come up years later. Through the ways her absence is still felt and her presence somehow still remains.

Her mom “Joy” is never shy about talking about her. Whether it’s a story, a memory, or just mentioning something Lacey would’ve thought was funny, she keeps her part of everyday conversations. Because of that, I’ve gotten to know little pieces of her too.

Daulton carries her with him in the way he loves and making sure the people around him know exactly how much they matter. Her niece lights up when she gets to wear her clothes. Her nephew has the kind of sensitivity and kindness that makes you wonder if he got a little bit of that from her too.

I’ve learned that when you love people, you also inherit pieces of their grief. You carry the stories of the people they miss. And somehow, through all of that, I’ve grown to love and miss someone I never got the chance to know myself.

Everything I’ve heard about Lacey points to someone who was deeply loved and impossible to forget. The more I heard about her, the more I found myself wishing I’d gotten the chance to meet her too.

This song is for Lacey. For the people who love her. For anyone who’s ever carried grief secondhand and found themselves missing someone they’ve only ever known through stories.

I wish I could’ve met her. She seemed really fucking cool.
