Some tapes you send off and forget. This one I'll never forget.

There was a stretch where auditioning stopped being fun. It became homework. Pass/fail. Something I did instead of something I loved.

Then, one day out of the blue, this landed in my inbox: 'Oh Father,' a televangelist supe for the final season of @theboystv.

A preacher. A supe. A congregation that probably should run. What's not to love?

I called up my old acting coach, John at @johnrosenfeldstudios. We set up the camera, and I stopped overthinking and just played. No safety net, no second-guessing. Two takes, and that was it. Somewhere in there, auditioning got fun again.

The role went to the masterful @daveeddiggs, who tore the roof off that church. Meanwhile, I got my joy back, which honestly feels like a pretty good consolation prize.

Grateful for every minute of it. And in the infamous words of the questionably great poet laureate Sir Puff Daddy... can't stop, won't stop... aha aha!" 🙏🏾🕺🏾

P.S. Yes, Oh Father swears. Duh, it's The Boys. I'm sure he cleared it up with the Big Guy upstairs. 😇 Or the other guy downstairs. 🔥🤔

Proud parent post! 🎬 Here’s a short clip of Juliana Martínez (@jewelemartinez) playing Destiny in The JDs, written and directed by multi-Oscar & Grammy nominee Jud Friedman.

Love the vulnerability and vocal strength she captures in this moment. 📽️🎬🎤👨🏾‍🎤🎶 by @iammarcomartinez

They don't hand out trophies for surviving a Fairview second act... except apparently they do. 🏆

The @stagescenela "Scenies" are out, and our LA premiere of Jackie Sibblies Drury's Pulitzer Prize–winning FAIRVIEW cleaned up — including Outstanding Ensemble, which I'm proud to say bears my name alongside seven actors I'd walk through fire with. (Some nights, it felt like we did. 🔥👀)

Huge congratulations to @zeescott (Oz Scott), Outstanding Direction of a Comedy — a master class every day in that rehearsal room. To @ieshamdaniels, Outstanding Lead Performance in a Comedy — the engine of this whole play. To @megantrapanidiven, Outstanding Properties Design — every plate, every prop, every perfect detail. And to @vichoffmanla, Outstanding Casting Direction — before any of us said a word onstage, she'd already done the hardest part: putting this ensemble in one room. 👏🏾

And to @roguemachinetheatre: BEST INTIMATE THEATER. There's a reason this play landed here. This company doesn't do safe! And a very deep thanks to our producers, @chisomcokoye and @s.cara.lewis, for believing in it and all of us, and making it happen. 🙏🏾♥️

To our entire Fairview LA cast and crew — from Dayton, with love. We built something people won't forget. 🥂🍾🎭

About last night: We had a great time celebrating our friend @shandiggity76’s 50th birthday! Happy birthday, Shannon! 🎉🥂🍾🎂 by @iammarcomartinez

We love Halloween because we can dress and act normally, and no one notices. 😈👻🎃🧟‍♀️🧙🏿‍♂️🧙

Spotted: A stage full of absolute talent at "Nani’s Haunted Halloween Recital!" 🎤🎹 From piano pieces to incredible vocals, every single kid brought their A-game today, and the room was packed with proud parents cheering them on.

Jules took the stage with "Never Enough" from The Greatest Showman—and watching how much her voice has matured, we could never get enough! So proud of her, and so grateful to her vocal coach, @songbirdnani, for putting together such a special showcase for all these amazing young performers. 👏✨

Hispanic Heritage Month may have just passed, but celebrating authentic Afro-Latino visibility on screen is a year-round commitment.

Throwing it back to this scene from Gente-fied on @netflix—our second time playing a married couple on film and television alongside my talented friend @lorenescandon, and playing father to @lajulissa!

Afro-Latino stories and family dynamics are still far too rare on television. Big gratitude to creators @lindayvettechavez and @marvinlemus for crafting spaces where our full, rich identities could shine, and to casting director @carlahoolcasting for bringing us together.

Representation matters—always. ✊🏽✨

Sometimes the absolute best gift an actor gets is an audition that lets them dive headfirst into a completely wild new character. Getting pinned, or testing and coming this close but not booking, might sting for a second, but the high of the work stays with you forever!

I was lucky enough to tape one of those dream auditions during the pandemic.

So...can you "guess the TV show" and character? 🤔😜

Another day offers another opportunity for gratitude, even if it doesn't always seem justified. But it is. 😉🙏🏾
