A few months ago I had the pleasure of working on @poseonfx with the unmatched Billy Porter. It was easily one of the best experiences I’ve had on a film set chiefly because of the generosity and warmth Billy showed me as we rehearsed, talked about our scenes and just life as an actor.
It was a master class on acting and humility from the star of the show. And even though much of what we shot didn’t make it past the cutting room floor, I’ll never forget the two weeks with that magnificent cast and the love Billy showed me while I was there.
Congratulations Billy on your Emmy win and to the rest of the Pose family. This is such an important show and he is such an important artist.

It’s been a year and I’m still pinching myself.
An anniversary in my new NYC home on the Upper West Side. It took a village. Letters, so many showings, late night pep talks, a lot of hand holding, too many sublets, and the grace of God!

Dreams really do come true, if you keep the faith. To have a small corner of this beautiful city to call my home, my refuge, my little ocean.

So thankful for the community who showed up to give sage advice, letters of rec, help with a sublet, and more.

And a very special thanks to @harrynasserproperties and @alyciap__ and their team at Sotheby’s. I’m proud to call Harry a friend and he could not have made this special moment in my life any more memorable.

To new dreams and new horizons.

-in a bottle, at sea-

The world is on fire
and our tears won’t smother the flames.

I saw a rabbit in the park today,
and sunset.
You would’ve loved it.

It’s a cold January and things feel askew.
I guess it’s hunting season
but who’s hunting who?

I’m not as handsome as I once was,
but I have hard won scars and patched mortar
on my chest.

Art helps.
And long walks,
I guess.
I long to tag myself before a case of precious artifacts,
-compare notes.

Things were simpler then I thought,
But maybe I wasn’t looking hard enough.

It wasn’t at my door.
Its cold breath hadn’t yet grazed my neck.

It’s not my family on the evening news.
It’s not,
and yet.

To be carefree again.
To drink and eat with abandon and the surety that we have a thousand days ahead.
to feel our bodies strong and capable and not worry about things unsaid.

To wave a at neighbor and tussle his brown kid’s hair.
cold automatons don’t listen to reason.
They scream and shoot instead.

To be someone’s sweetheart,
To be their headache, their cabbage.

I heard there’s a game on Sunday but I’ve no appetite for distraction.

My anxiety and anger are well fed.

..to eat cold fruit on a borrowed blanket,
with the certainty that we may have a few sunsets yet.

Boulder. Morrison. Winter Park. Glenwood Springs. AURORA. #Colorado

-The Colorado sun penetrates the skin.
It sinks deep into ancient pores that draw a line through me, you, and the stars.

And the dust.

Dust that birthed this majesty,
dust that one day we will all return.

Let this breeze and heat, and the rocks and the wildflowers never leave me.
Let this sun tattoo golden kisses on my skin and call me back whenever I roam too far..
