The call of the small.
When we first started dating, in our Moonage daydream, we dreamt of a little mountaintop cabin to escape to — a place to breathe deep, slow down, and reconnect.

In 2022, the Red Cabin Retreat was our dream realized. We heard the call of the Smallwood hamlet upon first arrival. It chose us. At the start, we had some wild repairs and stepped away and had a full time renter take over, but then..

In 2025 We had to take it back.
We leaned into the crazy obstacles we faced, after lots of conversations, planning, putting in love, putting in plants and just being alone in nature with our thoughts, we decided to open the doors to our getaway again so that others can feel what we feel when we are on our mountaintop cliff. Stare out the window of the sauna into the woods and you will get it too.

We’re excited to share this space — and everything we love about exploring the foothills of the Western Catskills: the food, the art, the hikes, the waterways, the curated shops, the peace (and scent) that comes with being close to the tall pine trees. Deep breaths.
