Throughout this memorable myriad of an existence, and career, I’ve always believed in 2 core principles...

One: Any kind of development starts in (honest) conversation. Two: Intersectionality in one’s life, or work, or nature, or nurture, is never a confusion. It is in fact - always - an invaluable advantage.

Proven, in the outcome of one’s full self.

I suppose this is why @bof’s annual VOICES is just so naturally aligned with those of us who see (and feel) so much of the world’s activity.

Despite all sorts of “Omricon” complications, this year’s global gathering of cross-industry titans did it again. Brilliantly.

With fashion as the obvious foundation, #BOFVOICES 2021 travelled in unison across a multitude of affecting dimensions. From redefining the roar of activism to the innovations of Mother Nature, the future of work in this period of grand resignation, and an incoming simulation that admittedly kind of scares me (!) called the ‘metaverse’.

We also dove into identity. Who are we right now? Have we taken the adequate time to comprehend today’s tidal waves of DIFFERENT? And what can we do to upkeep who we are, in the balance of persona, profit and passion.

A particular moment was listening to @louboutinworld, who inspiringly opened up to me about discovering his African heritage, his Arabic learning, and the joy he feels in being multiplied - never divided - by a DNA he never knew, but actually instinctively knew.

We grappled with the realities of human contradiction and wrestled through covid-driven challenges head on. We tested and expanded, and dove into soul.

Then, in true tradition of his Ghanaian homeland, we danced. In honor of Virgil.

And so, in realizing what is likely in the most unlikely, we understood that to ‘come together’ isn’t just an external necessity. It’s deeply internal, too.

Rozan Ahmed speaks to @bbcnews after a full 2 years of non-stop war, destruction and death in her beloved homeland of @sudan.

The award-winning writer, curator, CCI champion & activist summarizes the simplest of questions:

When will these so-called warlords for government ‘leaders’ continuously choosing to fight each other, while driving nothing but their personal benefits within a historically blood-stained war economy, finally learn?

When will the repeated cycles of deliberate brainwashing, polarization, confusion, division, hatred and VIOLENCE come to an end?

When will it be understood that when you debilitate your own nation and cripple a people YOU are supposed to *unitedly* protect, you also ruin (and wholeheartedly shame) your SELF in that completely unforgivable process?

Is this not obvious? When has a 60+ year nightmare of self-inflicted injury ever helped the Sudanese people? ALL of them? Ever? Since our independence?

When will this finally STOP?

Shutdown vogue: Too many humans to thank for making this a reality.
Too many fifth realm (and natural) alignments to highlight in a single post.
Too many realized manifestations to capture on camera.
Too many memories of celebration, joy and bond, with new friends, new family, and a very new sense of discipline - thanks to witnessing (and learning) from the world’s best fighters, and their rock solid focus.

Just over 4 months ago - yes, only 4 months - one of my most cherished ‘day 1s’ and I decided to just go ahead and do this. We saw and believed in a vision far beyond the physicality of boxing. One that would exponentially shift a glaring lens, BUILD better understanding - of the land and the people, BRIDGE a world of varying cultures, BOX through every kind of limiting boundary, and inspire the BEST in our future’s potential.

True champions are more than any belt has to offer, or any jab they’re able to throw. A champion always lives in the evolving epicenter of their own excellence, their dignified contribution and their global community.
Accepting trial, tribulation and triumph with equal humility. Knowing their role and responsibility could never be phased by anyone, but themselves.

#AndyRuizJr took his setback with integrity and grace, while our very own #AnthonyJoshua showed us all how #Africa (by way of #London town) can and will take it back.

Stream of consciousness time…✨🦚✨

I’ve always wondered what I’d look like as an all encompassing, etherally tantalizing, globally southern peacock.

From @sudan of course. And London town.

YES.

The peacock, it sheds…

Every year, that whole magnificent tail of theirs just disappears.

Then it grows back. In cyclic renewal.

A mesmerizing resurrection after every mammoth loss, written into body. Annually.

Every feather carries an eye by the way. Fanned open, you’ll find a hundred eyes all watching, observing.

Protecting, at once.

In @sudan’s Nubian territories, they were understood as the all-seeing eyes of Amun, the Most High.

A mass protective (and stunning) presence of heavenly guardians.

There, for you.

Emerald is the birthstone babes.

Make it hug.

Gold is literal health (heart).

It is wealth, essence, abundance and power.

It is also the heaviest on any given crown, attracting a near and far envy like one of those many cursed gifts.

It shines, in glory, in grief and in pain.

A dichotomy within nuance, radiantly rare, and always fought for.

A velvety black can only be the delectable draping of night’s light…

Get it.

Oceanic blues echo that of the lapis lazuli stone, carried from Afghanistan through Byzantium and right into the Pharaonic hands of Nubian art.

You get.

Every now and then, in the most unexpected corners of this confounding planet, I’m stopped by the sweetest souls who (unknowingly) return me to my reason… their showings of love and inspiration always feel like the realest in God-sent affirmations.

A grateful stream of human reminders that perhaps or actually, you’re on the right track.

Recently though, one of these encounters happened rather differently. Jewelry designer, @yogoni_bijoux, approached me out of nowhere with a rare kind of care that left us both in tears… @tania_campbell_golding too ❤️

She spoke not only of appreciation, but also with understanding.

She acknowledged the weight.

How hard it must be to stay principled - in a world that forces ideas, labels, and boxes of viciously nonsensical polarity.

How disciplined and diligent one has to be “to do so much for all of us, but stay so rooted in who you are”.

She then gave me one of her graciously designed golden combs, which in her culture symbolizes a pride in being, confidence in becoming and power in resistance.

To be seen for what you put into the world, along with how much it can take out of you… I honestly never knew how needed that was… is.

Thank you. To you, and to every single cherished human that chooses to show up in my (and their) life so beautifully.

In moving to a new country, migrants and refugees face situations that require creativity and courage. Haitian-born writer Edwidge Danticat reflects on Engel's words, adding that the 'experience of touching down in a totally foreign place is like having a blank canvas: You begin with nothing, but stroke by stroke you build a life.'

African marvel with my sisters of the East @bonitamutoni & @kamsgahiga ~ accentuating the interconnected arrivals of art and authorship.

The vibrant hospitality of us all with @rafflesdoha and @chef_mussa_fati ~ Curating a motherland cornerstone of ease, beauty and unity. Definitively, a Basel highlight.

“Paris on Pause” ~ because what is possible in this weird world, really, without peace?

In the midst of war, what can anyone do?

What can YOU do?

Literally, factually, now and futuristically, nothing at all.

Please follow @sudan as we continue with the unfortunate *battle* for basic common sense…

Human co-existence. SAFELY.

Dialogue perhaps, not MORE destruction. Protection of ALL innocent life, maybe. Rather than an arrogant/ignorant/constant and nonsensical cycle of cartoonish polarization… while more lives, and more livelihoods, are completely pulverized.

It continues to warp my mind how we, as humanity, have to somehow argue (?) convince (??) fight (???) for a reality as rightful as the air we breathe.

This simply has to change, and while I’m alive, it will.

All the good people of our beloved Sudan are fed up.

“Bday Season is officially LIVE…”✨

Indeed, for those new to my world, the whole of this magnificent month is my birthday.

Yes. Every single day in May. From 1st to 31st. Mine.

The 2nd being my earthly arrival. The rest being an ongoing celebration of surviving said arrival.

Feel free to spoil me, bigly, traditionally… congratulatory, at any given moment.

For those unable to shower Rozan with hugs, vibes and gifts, you can always make a kind donation to @themagicdrive or @chooselove - where focus remains on nothing but immediate peace and direct support for those suffering (unfathomably) in my hurting nation of @sudan.

A sacred and stunning nation STILL stuck in the perpetual and divisive cycles of state-orchestrated warfare well beyond my time on this oddly operating planet.

Let’s hope the spirit of @michaeljackson, who’s currently overwhelming us all with his prophetic legacy of untouchable light. Of *decent* humanity. Of mesmerizing execution in delivering a sense of unity…
