I now have an economics BA Honors with distinction, and a minor in political science :D

Couldn't be happier or more proud of my four years at UVIC! Been one hell of a ride. I wouldn't have been able to do it without my family, friends, instructors, and everyone who supported me along the way.
To all the to many people I've had the privilege of getting to know, thank you :)

Also shout-out the @uvic_outdoorsclub literally the best executive team on this dear planet Earth.

Going to UBC for law in September and if your in the area, hit me up! by @ian.witte.79

First album for The Most Jacked Pilgrims is a wrap!

Getting to hike the el Camino for a month in Spain was absolutely unforgettable. I did the Camino del norte with 5 of the coolest people ever, learned how to surf (barely), had a full conversation in spanish for the first time, and had 800km of shenanigans with the lads. Way too much to say so I'll just leave it that I'm lucky to be friends with Leo, Andrew, Jos, Reid, and Peter and to have been able to share this with them!

Also, Austerian cider is the best, they can store grain like no others, the highway walking sucked, the beaches were beautiful, and I've never been barked at by so many dogs in my life.

See you all on the next one! by @ian.witte.79

Week 3
Squat single@435@7.5
Bench single@285@7
Deadlift single@575@7.5

Well Im super disappointed. I struggled to find the sign up link for Vic Barbell meet in the fall and in the 5 minutes it took me to find it (on the BCPA calendar, not through the BCPA site), the meet filled up and I lost my chance. Still going to volunteer and looking forward to seeing everyone but still very crushing. Cheering for everyone who will compete :) by @ian.witte.79

Moving back to the island kicked my ass so I made it a two week deload to drop some fatigue. Something I benefit from here is the environment, its hard to find someone stronger at a rec center, at CARSA its the norm lol. by @ian.witte.79

Wishing your opponent will finally see the light is a fool’s errand. It will only lead to heartbreak. Counting up the other side’s wrongs is a hobby that can last a lifetime. Obsessing over the next election is a delay tactic. Telling people to reject hate and choose love will not work. Because people swept up in high conflict do not think of themselves as full of hate, even if they are. They think of themselves as right. Hate is an important emotion. But it’s a symptom; conflict is the cause. And high conflict is a system, not a feeling. -Amanda Ripley

Navigating social conflict has become a bit of an obsession of mine in the past few years so here's some of my favorite books I've read recently on how to do it! Its hard to describe how much this work has changed my life and challenged my ideas of right and wrong, its been monumental. I think "high conflict" is my favorite out of them all though "the next conversation" and "how minds change" are more practically useful. Amanda Ripley just does such an amazing job explaining how conflicts self sustain, how we reduce those who disagree with us, and how to be kind, nurturing, and empathic while keeping the strength of our positions honest and genuine. I give learning empathy in my 20s a resounding 27/20!! by @ian.witte.79

Squat single@410@6
Bench single@265@5.5

First time squat has ever felt better than deadlift and I couldn't be more proud 🥹 starting to dial in form more as I get into meet prep which means depth on squat, pauses on bench, and making sure I don't hitch my deadlifts at the top by losing brace at the bottom. by @ian.witte.79

Week 4:
Squat single@420@7.5
Bench single@280@8
Deadlift single@575@7.5

This wraps up one of my best training blocks in literally years, feeling great and ready for the next one! The squat loves the extra technical work so I'll be changing nothing, bench and deadlift need some heavier work so I'll be upping the rpes just a tad for the next macro cycle. Also completely unrelated but Absolute Martian Manhunter is coming out right now and its the best comic ive read in years, very much being added to the collection when the full series is out! by @ian.witte.79
