I am excited to announce my new release, 𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙪𝙞𝙩𝙮, featuring remixes by @room40shoots, @timothyfairless, @milli_hertz, @geneeves, @jonat8han Snipes, @ianewellman, and myself, out on Room40. The release takes my last album, 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘪𝘵𝘺, and explores the remix as a metaphor for the many ways we can reclaim control of our privacy in our overly surveilled world. The album cover for 'Continuity' by Yann Novak, made to look 3D with shadows on a light grey background. The cover is a light grey photo background of a busy Tokyo intersection in Shinjuku. Release day is finally here for Ian Wellman's brilliant “Particularly Dangerous Situation” -- a meditative, at times harrowing, interpretive document of the catastrophic California wildfires of 2025. Wellman's stunningly descriptive field recordings plus his signature tape loop textures and sampled drones combine for a dramatic ten-part narrative that is both frightening and sorrowful in its depiction of calamitous events.

With many thanks to @pehrspace and @2220arts, on February 8th, to document the release of Particularly Dangerous Situation, I’ll give a special full album performance. @ospreyospreyosprey will be opening the evening, with @underwatergardenensemble closing the evening on a positive note. Throughout the night, @katemakesfilms will be screening the smoke and ash loops, made during the 2020 Bobcat fire with 16mm film. Particularly Dangerous Situation is out on January 23rd, via @elevatorbath For those not in the SoCal area, we’ll be doing a listening party on January 16th, on Bandcamp! by @ianewellman

Here is a Recap of our workshop yesterday with @ianewellman & @symbiomyconaut! We used geophones and hydrophones to listen to what is happening beneath our feet and in the waterways of the Arroyo Seco. Thank you all for showing up and listening with us!

TRANSCRIPT: Ultimately, everything reacts to your presence and your being there. Field recording is you editing every step of the way. You’re deciding where to place the mic, you’re deciding when to hit record and when to hit stop, you’re deciding what mic to even use at that moment. These are all inherent decisions that are editing.
