What Shall We Become Together?

Drawing from diverse perspectives, the conversation explored the moral, cultural, environmental, political, and philosophical questions shaping our collective future.

Reflecting on technology, responsibility, and the human condition, the panel considered what must remain at the center of progress: care, connection, resilience, and our shared responsibility to one another and the planet.

As part of Imaginative Intelligences with G5A, in collaboration with Mozilla Foundation and the Berggruen Institute, the Assembly unfolded through an immersive installation spanning three days, alongside workshops and conversations.

Why is independent arts practice important for a culturally vibrant society?

We often talk about culture in terms of institutions, audiences, markets, festivals, funding, and visibility. But beneath all of these is a more crucial question: what kind of society do we want to be?

Independent artists and cultural practitioners create the spaces in which new ideas can emerge, difficult questions can be asked, familiar stories can be challenged, and different ways of seeing can coexist.

Yet independent cultural practice is often treated as something supplementary - a valuable but optional part of society, dependent on the availability of funding, institutional support, or commercial interest.

What if we understood it differently?
