Last year, BTF Summit challenged us to imagine the future. This year, we focused on building it.

On stage, our Founder, @ice.onuorah, shared a message that reframes how we think about innovation:

“We don’t have an innovation problem. We have a commercialization problem.”

Great ideas are everywhere, but sustainable businesses are not.

Innovation without the right infrastructure, distribution, market access, transactions, and execution rarely reaches its full potential.

Deputy Minister Enyinnah Okere also challenged us to think beyond the present: What are we building today that will create opportunities for others tomorrow?

It’s a question that speaks directly to why The Nod exists.

We are building the technology, media, and market infrastructure founders need to move from ideas to commercially viable businesses, while creating pathways for greater economic participation and opportunity.

The next chapter of Black economic growth in Canada won’t be defined by the number of ideas we create, but by the number we successfully bring to market and the infrastructure we build that allows others to do the same.

September 30 is Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

It’s a day to honour the children who never returned home, and the survivors, families, and communities forever impacted by the residential school system.

Reconciliation is not a single moment; it’s a collective responsibility. It asks us to remember, to listen, and to commit to building a future rooted in truth, dignity, and respect.
