When Black entrepreneurs get the capital, visibility and connections to move, the impact goes far beyond the pitch stage.

At the 2026 Melamoon Pitch Competition finale by @facecoalition, The Honourable @rechie.valdez, Minister of Women and Gender Equality and Secretary of State (Small Business and Tourism), celebrated the finalists and spoke to the federal government’s renewed $189 million investment in the Black Entrepreneurship Program.

We came to Toronto with The Nod Boxes containing very well curated products from businesses across Western Canada, bringing them into new hands, new rooms and new conversations alongside @iamtiffanycallender, the @facecoalition community and leaders from across the ecosystem.

That’s the work.

Creating visibility. Opening pathways. Moving businesses beyond their immediate markets and into the places where opportunity can happen.

A big Nod to the entire @facecoalition team for continuing to create meaningful pathways for Black entrepreneurs across Canada.

And A Nod to @blaxpo for hosting this amazing experience.

Congratulations to every Melamoon finalist. More rooms. More ownership. More opportunities.

Last year, BTF Summit challenged us to imagine the future. This year, we focused on building it.

On stage, our Founder, @ice.onuorah, shared a message that reframes how we think about innovation:

“We don’t have an innovation problem. We have a commercialization problem.”

Great ideas are everywhere, but sustainable businesses are not.

Innovation without the right infrastructure, distribution, market access, transactions, and execution rarely reaches its full potential.

Deputy Minister Enyinnah Okere also challenged us to think beyond the present: What are we building today that will create opportunities for others tomorrow?

It’s a question that speaks directly to why The Nod exists.

We are building the technology, media, and market infrastructure founders need to move from ideas to commercially viable businesses, while creating pathways for greater economic participation and opportunity.

The next chapter of Black economic growth in Canada won’t be defined by the number of ideas we create, but by the number we successfully bring to market and the infrastructure we build that allows others to do the same.

Let’s build what lasts.

As we reflect on Black history this month, we look forward to Black futures.

Looking back at 2025, together we’ve achieved:
* 5 magazine editions
• 120+ voices amplified
• 95+ businesses spotlighted
• $3.2M+ in engineered transactions
• 500+ businesses engaged
• 10M+ reached

What we’re building next:
• Capital moving with intention and velocity
* Transactions creating measurable transformation
* Businesses transitioning from shadow to the formal economy

Together, we’re redefining what’s possible.

This isn’t a moment.
It’s infrastructure in motion.

Before the cover comes together, there is a different kind of magic at work.

The laughter between takes.
The quiet focus.
The intention behind every frame.

This behind-the-scenes glimpse into Chioma Ihekwoaba-Ufodike’s BLACKPRINT magazine cover shoot mirrors the depth she brings to this edition.

In this edition, @chiom_ufodike, FCPA, Chief Compliance Officer shares a leadership philosophy rooted in service, the strategic weight of compliance, resilience forged through entrepreneurship, and the responsibility that comes with mentorship and giving back. Her perspective reframes authority, demonstrating how credibility is built through people, purpose, and principled execution.

This cover came together through an exceptional creative team:

Integrity is infrastructure.

Ethics and transparency are not soft values.
They are structural requirements for sustainable growth.

In BLACKPRINT, Chioma Ihekwoaba-Ufodike, CPA and Chief Compliance Officer, examines why compliance is not a checkbox it is a competitive advantage.

When governance is clear and standards are enforced:
* Reputation strengthens
* Institutional trust increases
* Capital becomes accessible
* Scale becomes sustainable
Compliance is not bureaucracy.
It is business architecture.

Strong companies are not built on hype.
They are built on discipline.

2026 is about the rooms that move the work forward.
That’s the focus of The Nod Nexus.

What we built in 2025 proved something powerful: when the right people gather with intention, clarity forms and momentum follows.

Across Edmonton and Calgary, founders, operators, creatives, and community builders came together for real conversations, shared strategy, and next moves not surface-level networking.

These weren’t rooms for visibility.
They were rooms for alignment.

And that was only the beginning.

2026 means more cities.
Deeper conversations.
Stronger outcomes.

If you know, you know.
And if you don’t, this is your sign.

@soch_ogbonna asks the question we should all be asking this Black Friday, Where will your dollars go?

For years, Black Friday has meant deals, discounts, and big-box spending. But this year, we choose differently. We choose circulation. We choose impact. We choose legacy.

Because when dollars return home, businesses grow. Dreams scale. Generational wealth becomes real.

On November 28, we launch Real Black Friday at Edmonton Unlimited, the first stop in our national 10-city campaign to recirculate $100M through 500 Canadian Black-owned businesses.

Five curated RBF Boxes. Verified vendors. Real circulation, every Friday and not just one.

Be in the room. See the boxes. Meet the businesses. Spend with intention.

RSVP now - click the link in bio

This year, we build for us, by us, and with everyone.

What if Black Friday wasn’t about chasing deals, but leaving a mark?

On November 28, The Nod App Marketplace unveils The Real Black Friday Launch, an experience built to redefine how Canada buys, gives, and builds.

This isn’t just another sale.

It’s the beginning of a nationwide effort to recirculate $100 million through 500 Black-owned businesses in five years, proving that every intentional purchase can create impact, build legacy, and strengthen community wealth.

Black Friday will come and go, but what we build together on this day will last.

November 28. Edmonton Unlimited.

Be part of the story changing how Canada shops.
