Yesterday, Dr. Beckerman and a team of ICO volunteers headed to @DePaulAthletics to provide free sports vision screenings for DePaul University student-athletes! 🏀👁️

Good vision isn't just about seeing 20/20: it's about depth perception and reaction time (important factors for hand-eye coordination!) all of which can make a huge difference in athletic performance. We're proud of our team for taking the time to help these athletes see their best so they can perform their best! 💪

Huge thanks to Dr. Beckerman and our incredible volunteers for representing ICO and giving back to the DePaul community! 🎉 by @ico_optometry

🌕 Last week, the Pacific Asian Cultural Club (PACC) lit up campus with the Lunar Lights Night Market! 🏮

This vibrant celebration honored the diverse cultures and traditions of Asia and the Pacific Islands: from traditional games to a fun raffle to close out the night. 🎉

Nights like these are what make our ICO community special: cultural appreciation, connection, and celebration all in one place. 💫 by @ico_optometry

ICO was well represented this week at the American Optometric Association's Practice Growth and Advocacy Conference, held Thursday, September 17th at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare in Chicago! ✨

During a dinner hosted by the AOA Board of Trustees, Dr. Stephanie Messner was honored with the President's Award for Exceptional Commitment to the Optometric Profession, presented by Dr. Teri Geist, President of the AOA. Congratulations to Dr. Messner on this well-deserved recognition! 🏆

The evening also gave two of our own students a platform to make their voices heard. Michael Aragon (AOSA Trustee-Elect, Class of 2029) and Jhae Manuzon (AOSA Events Coordinator-Elect, Class of 2029) joined a student panel discussion focused on how the AOA and AOSA can better support and engage with the needs of optometry students nationwide! 👓👏 by @ico_optometry

✨ On Friday night, students hosted this year's Talent Show, complete with a courtyard cookout as students, staff, and faculty gathered for food, drinks, and good vibes (plus a serious spread of desserts baked by members of the ICO community!) 🍰🔥

Though we only had one act performing this year, it was one to remember with the Class of 2029's Brianna Condes taking center stage to bring the Lecture Center down with her amazing vocals. 🎤

And the night didn't stop there as karaoke and games took over, including a "Guess the Song" challenge where players had just 15 seconds to name that tune. (Clearly, Brianna's performance had everyone wanting a go on the mic!)

Thank you to everyone in the ICO community who took part this year, it was another night to remember! 💙

As we kick off the final week of August, we'd like to once again congratulate our Class of 2029 for reaching the latest milestone on their journey to become optometrists at this year's White Coat Ceremony! 🥼✨

From this point forward, they'll spend the coming years building the clinical skills and knowledge to serve patients and communities with excellence.

We couldn't be prouder of how far they've already come, and we can't wait to see everything they'll accomplish. 🩵

🥼✨ As we finish welcoming the Class of 2030, we'd like to celebrate a big moment ahead for the Class of 2029!

On Saturday, August 22nd at 2:00 PM our second-years will officially transition from a support role to a leading one in the clinic, donning their white coats and taking the optometric oath as they move on from the Clinical Assistant Program to begin seeing patients directly at the Illinois Eye Institute.

Congratulations, Class of 2029! 🎉
