A fun afternoon with the team at The Distillery District! Celebrating 2 of our team members that are starting optometry school in just a few weeks at the University of Waterloo and Dr. Grewal's alma mater the Illinois College of Optometry. Congrats Prabjot and Sonia! 👀
A great Segway tour of the Distillery District followed by a delicious taco meal at El Catrin where optometry school life and living away from home was discussed.
We are so proud of our team, past and current, achieving such great milestones in their lives as they prepare for their future in optometry. The vision for our future is bright, just you Look & See what comes next! 🤓

Yes, That’s a Needle Going into an Eyelid 💉👀

A chalazion is a blocked oil gland in the eyelid that causes a firm, often painless bump. While many go away with warm compresses and medication, some linger and need more direct treatment.

In this case, we used a small steroid injection (Kenalog-40) to reduce the inflammation from the inside. The eyelid is numbed and clamped for comfort and safety, and the injection takes just a few seconds. Most shrink significantly within days.

On June 2–3, I had the great honor of being welcomed in Chicago by Prevent Blindness, under the inspiring leadership of Jeff Todd, President & CEO.

As a proud Young Systems Leader Awardee 2024 from the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (@iapb ), I experienced two powerful days of learning, connection, and deep inspiration both professionally and personally.

Jeff Todd leads with humility, clarity, and purpose. Through him and his incredible team, I saw what it truly means to lead with equity, impact, and a long-term vision for eye health. Every conversation was meaningful, and every person I met reflected a shared commitment to dignity, access, and inclusion.

On Day 2, I continued my journey alongside Elyse Fineman with visits to two institutions that left a lasting mark:
The Chicago Lighthouse, @chicagolighthouse where innovation meets inclusion in service of the visually impaired.

The Illinois College of Optometry (@ico_optometry a center of academic excellence shaping the future of optometric care.

I return home deeply grateful and more committed than ever to amplifying the voices of underserved communities, advancing therapeutic education, and advocating for equitable access to eye care worldwide.

Thank you to @prevent_blindness , to @giraffejt , and to every leader and team member who shared your time, wisdom, and vision with me. You are lighting the way. 🤗✨
