Kirkby unveils a bold new visual identity The textile house formerly known as Kirkby Design has entered a new chapter, sharpening its visual identity and unveiling a refined creative direction. Renaming a brand is never without risk but, for Jordan Mould, the Brand Director of Kirkby, it was a risk worth taking. The rebrand marks more than a new name, signalling a shift in the textile house’s very identity, moving beyond fabric alone into a broader lifestyle world. Part of the renowned Romo Group, Kirkby has championed a more contemporary, fashion-forward aesthetic for the family run textile business now in its fifth generation. This new shift further amplifies its role within the group and its modern, fresh appeal to a contemporary design audience. 📸 Photography courtesy of Kirkby 🔗 Read the full story on the Icon website. by @iconeye
Kelly Wearstler launches new collection with Serax. A bird has landed on Kelly Wearstler’s latest collaboration with Beligan brand Serax. Perch, a five-piece collection of sculptural glass vessels, takes its cue from a baby bird nest the designer spotted in her backyard. 🪺 The idea has been distilled into a series of pared-back forms, each accompanied by a small bird poised as if it has just touched down. Clear and deep amber glass give the vessels two distinct personalities, with daylight altering their appearance throughout the day. The amber versions bring a little extra warmth to the otherwise cool material. It’s an understated addition to Wearstler’s Serax repertoire, as the decorative detail does the talking. The collection also marks a foray into glass for the Los Angeles-based designer, who is better known for her exuberant approach to interiors, furniture and objects. Perch launches next month. 🐦‍⬛ by @iconeye
Christoph Hefti Unveils His Fantastical World at Zurich’s Museum of Design. In his first-ever solo exhibition, held at @museumgestaltung , textile designer @c_hefti_2017 invites viewers into his creative process and the imaginative worlds woven into each of his creations. 🪡 ‘I want people to walk off thinking, what was that?’, laughs Christoph Hefti, the Swiss textile designer and artist whose first solo exhibition, The Missing Cat and Other Textile Stories, is currently on display at the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich. With his whimsical creations filled with narrative and fantasy, he hopes viewers get a glimpse into his creative imagination while offering them the chance to expand their own creative minds. After working for two decades in the fashion world for notable houses such as Dries Van Noten, Balenciaga, Lanvin and Acne Studios, Hefti set out on his own creative journey in 2015, launching his eponymous studio dedicated to hand-knotted carpets, textiles, and ceramics. His carpets, however, have become a distinct medium through which the artist draws us into surreal worlds filled with animal-like creatures, masks and alluring dreamscapes. With each piece the starting point is a story. A story which then comes to life through Hefti’s inspired use of colour, materiality and craft. 🔗 Read the full story on the Icon website. 📸 Photography courtesy of Museum für Gestaltung Zürich / Gregory Georgescu / Sebastian Schaub by @iconeye
Inside Finarte’s joyful world of handwoven rugs and textiles.🧵 If there is one thing Finnish design does exceptionally well, it is making a virtue of the handmade. At this year’s @helsinkidesignweek and @habitarefair , design company Finarte puts that idea front and centre with a new collection of handwoven rugs, created in collaboration with emerging Finnish designers including Minni Havas and Saana ja Olli. Founded in 1985, Finarte has long championed Finland’s rich textile traditions, pairing contemporary design with techniques passed down through generations. Its rugs are handmade using natural and recycled materials, from handwoven wool dhurries to the brand’s signature rag rugs, giving traditional craft a contemporary twist. At the heart of the story is Finarte co-founder and textile artist @eijarasinmaki , who has been rethinking the humble Finnish rag rug since the 1970s. 🪡 🔗 Read the full story on the Icon website. 📸 Photography courtesy of @finartedesign by @iconeye

Atelier HA designs MELT’s new Panthéon restaurant in Paris. 🇫🇷 Tucked into Paris’s historic Left Bank, @atelierha gives @melt_slow_smoked_barbecue a retro-futurist identity, pairing American diner nostalgia with bold, theatrical interiors. Among the historic streets surrounding the Panthéon, MELT’s latest Paris outpost might take on the familiar language of the American diner, but with a sexy, cinematic Parisian twist. 🍔 Designed by local studio Atelier HA, the 2,700 sq ft multi-hyphenate venue stretches across three levels and is more of a neighbourhood canteen-cum-Texas smokehouse and late-night club than a classic French bistro. It is the second collaboration between MELT’s founders and Atelier HA, following their first project on rue de Cambronne in the city’s 15th arrondissement. Rather than recreating a typical American diner, the brief called for a contemporary interpretation of its familiar visual language. 🙌 ‘We really wanted to avoid the trap of thinking we need to literally reproduce all the codes of an American diner,’ explain the founders of Atelier HA, Hugo Vince and Adèle Nourry. 🔗 Read the full story on the Icon Website. 📸 Photography courtesy of @axel_aurejac by @iconeye
@pantertourron unveils cosmic-themed window displays for Hermès. Titled ‘Space Oddity’, Panter&Tourron’s window displays for @hermes Switzerland are a celestial interpretation of the French Maison’s annual theme, L’appel du large. At the start of the year Hermès announced its annual theme, ‘L’appel du large’. Translating to ‘venture beyond’ or from French as ‘the call of the open sea’, the theme has remained evident across nautical-inspired collections and collaborations designed to evoke a sense of discovery. Inviting us to look beyond the horizon, the theme has also been brought to life through immersive window displays across the French label’s retail stores. For Hermès Switzerland’s 2026 seasonal window displays, the fashion house commissioned Swiss design duo Panter&Tourron to interpret the theme through their own creative lens. 🔗 Read the full story on the Icon website. 📸 Photography by @aliciadubuis by @iconeye
The art of Italian living: @marellilondon arrives in Shoreditch. This September, Task’s Shoreditch showroom welcomes a new display from Italian design house Marelli, bringing a selection of its latest furniture to London as part of the Shoreditch Design Week. Fresh from Milan, the collection explores a softer, more tactile approach to contemporary interiors, spanning seating, tables and occasional pieces across the contract, hospitality and residential sectors. Materiality is central to the display. Veined marble tabletops in rich burgundy and warm cream tones are paired with sculptural bases in bronze and brass finishes, while bouclé and velvet upholstery introduce texture through a warm palette of rust, terracotta and cream. Rather than treating workplace furniture as a separate category, the collection draws on the more relaxed language of hospitality and residential interiors, where comfort, material and atmosphere play an increasingly important role. 📸 Photography courtesy of @task_systems 🔗 Read the full article on the Icon website. by @iconeye
The women bringing contemporary design to Lake Como Design Festival. ‘We have a moral obligation to experiment’: Bas Smets unveils Vitra’s new Water Garden Visitors to the Vitra Campus in Weil am Rhein may notice three striking shark-head sculptures jutting out of a shallow pond alongside the facade of Frank Gehry’s Design Museum. The ceramic fountains, titled The Three Graces and realised by Dutch designer Hella Jongerius as part of her Angry Animals series, feature in the newly opened Water Garden, a project developed in collaboration with influential landscape architect and environmentalist Bas Smets. Widely known for pioneering ‘augmented landscapes’, Smets has designed urban microclimates that use ecological processes to help cities cool down and adapt to climate change ever since he founded his Brussels-based practice nearly 20 years ago. Impressed by Smets’ environmentally conscious approach, Rolf Fehlbaum, chairman emeritus and active member of the board of directors of Vitra, initiated the transformation of the Vitra Campus by enlisting the architect in 2022 to revitalise existing green spaces. 📸 Photography by Jade Quintin. 🔗 Read the full story on the Icon website. by @iconeye
